State home minister, Y Patton, today lauded the police department for successful conduct of 36th Nagaland Police Duty cum Sports and Athletics Meet despite heavily engaged in arduous task of maintaining public peace and order both within and outside the State.
Addressing the closing ceremony of the 36th Nagaland Police Duty cum Sports and Athletics Meet this afternoon at NAPTC ground as the guest of honour, Patton underlined that organizing such kind of sporting events regularly not only provides ample opportunity to showcase the sporting talents of the policemen and women but also foster a sense of team spirit, camaraderie and oneness by bringing all the different police units together. Patton hoped that spirit of friendly competition would have positive impact on the overall individual personality of every policeman and woman and go a long way in inculcating sense of pride in their performance both on and off the field.
The home minister exhorted that games and sports are integral part of any uniformed force as it builds mental and physical fitness, improves responses and thus promote the overall efficiency of the police personnel. Stating that policemen and women are always at the beck and call of duties which often caused stress and tension and takes toll not only professionally but even family and social life, Patton said sports cum duty meet would provide sense of respite from the strenuous task and also offer opportunity for much needed recreation to compete in healthy sporting spirit.
The home minister also congratulated the Director General of Police and all the personnel involved to make the 36th edition of Nagaland Police Duty cum Sports and Athletics Meet a success. He has also congratulated all the team and individuals who have excelled in various events.
He further wished that the tradition of Police Meet would continue to act as a beacon and epitome for competition with enthusiasm, commitment, discipline, fair play to promote team spirit, camaraderie and positive participation in the years to come.
The home minister was accompanied by other legislators including Er. Levi Rengma, Deo Nukhu, Dr. Longri, Dr. Benjongliba and Thowang Konyak.
