Dimapur, Jan. 14 (EMN): Nagaland Police Baptist Churches Association (NPBCA) held its 7th triennial convention and 30th general annual council programme at Police Baptist Church, Chumoukedima, on the theme “Knitted together in Christ” from January 11 to 13.
The convention was held under the leadership of the NPBCA office bearers namely A Temsu – president, V Rhakho - vice president, Tsisepi Sangtam – recording secretary, and Neibu Sanchu – assistant recording secretary.
The speakers of the programme were L Mhonthung Humtsoe, associate professor of Discipleship Bible College; Rev. Dr. Imchayanger, senior pastor of Ao Christian Revival Church, Dimapur, and A Temsu, president NPBCA.
Altogether, 255 delegates including 158 male and 97 female from 28 associate churches besides the members of the host church attended the three-day programme.
The first night witnessed a grand opening with much fanfare in the presence of NPBCA executive secretary Rev. Dr. Hukashe A Zhimomi all delegates from across the state.
Rev. Manen, pastor of PBC, Chumukedima, welcomed all the delegates and encouraged them to have a blessed stay. A Temsu, NPBCA president, brought the message on the opening night on the topic, “Knitted together in Christ,” wherein he emphasised on the need for everyone to work together for progression of church for the glory of God.
The second day witnessed presentation of reports by the associations and all the associate churches. The 2018 audit report was also tabled and evaluated which was accepted by voice vote.
The afternoon session saw the delegates divided into three focus groups.
During the ‘Mission Group’ discussion, Verüyoi Khesoh, pastor of PBC, Phek, was the moderator, while Toshi, pastor of PBC 10th NAP (IR) Zhadima, was the resource person.
During the ‘Youth group’ discussion, Changsangsomba, youth director of PBC, Tuensang, was the moderator and Chenirao, pastor of UBC, Dhansiripar, was the resource person, while during the ‘Women Group’ discussion, Mrs Arenla Aier, women leader of PBC 2nd NAP, Alichen, was the moderator, and Chingthai, pastor of PBC Longleng, was the resource person.
In the evening revival service, Rev. Dr. Imchayanger, senior pastor of Ao Christian Revival Church, Dimapur, was the speaker. He spoke on the topic ‘We are one in the spirit.’ Rev. Imchayanger stated that all persons serve the same lord despite diversities of gifts.
The congregation was enthralled by singers from different units who presented songs in English, Hindi and Nagamese during the ‘Musical Night’ programme which was held right after the evening revival service.
On the third and final devotional service, L Mhonthung Humtsoe, associate professor from Discipleship Bible College, spoke on the topic ‘Oneness in Christ.’ In his sermon, Humtsoe stated, “We are called by God for a purpose and that purpose is to have unity in Christ.”
He has expressed concern on the futility of constructing beautiful churches but without Christ in their hearts.
The afternoon session witnessed the business session and budget presentation, where budget for the current year was thoroughly deliberated and passed. In the evening worship service, L Mhonthung Humtsoe spoke on the topic “Celebrating our differences,” wherein he has likened NPBCA to a mini NBCC as all tribes are represented. He has emphasised on the need to accept the differences and be united to fulfil God’s purpose.
Meanwhile, a new team of NPBCA officer bearers was installed with V Rhakho as president, Sashi as vice president, Chenirao as recording secretary, and M Yiehwang Konyak as assistant recording secretary.
The vote of thanks, on behalf of the hosting church, was delivered by Akum Abraham, deacon, and the closing act was performed by PBC Peren, which would be the host of the 31st general annual council.
During the three-day convention, greetings and exhortations were delivered by T John Longkumer, DGP Nagaland; Aotemsu, DIGP (Training & Border) & Camp Commandant; M Rhovisie Nyuwi, Commandant of 12th NAP (IR) Bn; and Razouvotuo Chatsu, chairman of Chümoukedima village council.
Worship team from PBC 3rd NAP Tuensang led the congregation in hymn and revival song singing in all the services. Choirs from PBC Chumoukedima, Town Baptist Church Chumoukedima and various groups presented special songs.
