DIMAPUR — Pfutsero Government College witnessed a landmark cultural event with the staging of its first-ever theatrical drama, organised by the Drama Club of the Department of English at the PGC Auditorium on Sep. 30.
An update issued on Friday informed that the event held on the theme “Decades and Eras,” provided students with a platform to showcase their theatrical skills, stage presence, creativity and cultural awareness.
The performances featured adaptations and presentations from works including Mṛicchakaṭika, Pride and Prejudice, All My Sons, The Color Purple, Pyramus and Thisbe from Ovid’s Metamorphoses, and Macbeth. The plays explored diverse themes such as love, betrayal, redemption, trauma, domestic abuse and women’s empowerment.
A Book Award for Academic Excellence, recognised as one of the best practices of the Department of English, was presented by the Head of the Department, Neipreu Mero.

The semester-wise winners were Neiwezo-u L. Mero (1st Semester), Suvelu Chuzho (3rd Semester), and Atshele Thele (5th Semester).
The event also featured a Costume Contest, with Sedewe winning the male category and Ketshechulou winning the female category while the 3rd Semester presentation of All My Sons was adjudged Best Drama.
Individual awards recognised outstanding performances. Mvusute Khupfu, who portrayed Darcy in Pride and Prejudice, won Best Actor, while Kaweu Medo, who played Celie in The Color Purple, won Best Actress.

Dzuvelu, for narrating Pyramus and Thisbe, received the Best Narrator award.
The programme marked an important milestone for the Department of English, bringing literature and theatre together while providing students with an opportunity to develop confidence, creativity, stagecraft and appreciation for the performing arts.
