Dimapur, April 30 (EMN): High School Women Organisation (HSWO), comprising seven colonies under ward-1 of the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC), on Saturday, held a one-day football event at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima.
The annual colony sports meet for mothers started in 2021 with the hope to unite people from different localities, while also having fun.
Attending the event as the special guest, president of the Nagaland Football Coaches Association (NFCA) and Northern Angami Youth Organisation (NAYO) Roko Angami praised the women's organisation making efforts to create unity through football.
Appreciating the sacrifices made by mothers, he recalled being raised by a widowed mother with no female sibling. A mother's love, he said, is priceless, and that nothing can repay a mother's love.
Encouraging women to realise their worth in society, he said there is nothing that a woman cannot do. The top football coach also shared delight on how the organisation chose the football sport to promote unity, making the event even more meaningful.
Chairman of High School Panchayat ward-1, Keduotuolie Mepfüo said that the sporting event was a day for mothers to have fun, even as they carry out their daily responsibilities.
He informed that the ward is the biggest ward in the KMC area, covering about 3 km. As it includes seven localities under one ward, he said that there are several challenges in carrying out activities. He, therefore, lauded the women's body for taking the unique initiative to keep the people united.
Although football may be a difficult game for mothers, he said that these women have won their hearts as they make efforts to tie people closer.
A total of seven teams representing -- Rokabozou, Sepfuzüzou, Themezie, Peraciezie, Perizie, Zienuobadze, Khikha-Rüliezou -- took part in the event.
