Dimapur, Aug. 28 (EMN): The LI-NING 44th Inter- District & State Open Badminton Championship of the Nagaland Olympic & Paralympic Games 2022 held at Longleng from August 23 culminated on August 27.

DPRO Longleng in an update informed that the valedictory ceremony was graced by Y Vikheho Swu, MLA, and former president of Nagaland Badminton Association (NBA) as special guest and BS Nganlang Phom, MLA, as chief host.

Encouraged by the participation of a five-year-old girl in the tournament, Vikheho said his concern is how to take these youngsters to the level of achievement which they are looking forward to. “This is the challenge and concern for all of us here. In order to achieve this and to take our children to a higher level will not only depend on our politicians and administrators but collectively take this responsible journey forward,” he said.

Vikheho urged the players, winners and champions of the tournament to remember and keep in mind that their initial achievement is just the beginning of the many successes they would be achieving in the future, it stated.

In order to see the young sportspersons shine in the field of games and sports, the special guest called upon the parents to be more attentive and see that their children achieve the success they deserve.

Vikheho also said the role of the state Government is another important factor to take forward talented youths in games and sports. He said if the state’s sportspersons are to excel in the national level, then they require good sports infrastructures and training academies.

The chief host, BS Nganlang Phom, gave a solidarity message and president, NBA, Kesonyu Yhome, delivered the concluding remarks, it stated.
