DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) has postponed the Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games 2026, which were scheduled to be held from April 7 to the 18th across Kohima, Chümoukedima and Dimapur.
In a notice issued on Thursday, the association said the games have been postponed until further notice following a review of the schedule and consultations with affiliated sports associations and other stakeholders.
According to the NOA, the earlier schedule coincided with examinations and academic commitments in various educational institutions, as many participating athletes are students.
The association also said the proposed dates overlapped with certain pre-scheduled sporting activities and competition calendars of state sports associations and national sports federations, which could affect the availability and participation of athletes, technical officials and teams.

It added that the postponement would allow districts, associations and athletes additional time for preparation and coordination, thereby supporting broader participation and maintaining a high standard of competition.
The revised dates for the Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games 2026 will be notified later after completing coordination with the concerned stakeholders, the NOA said.
The association said it remains committed to the promotion and development of sports in the state and urged all affiliated associations, districts, athletes and stakeholders to take note of the notification and extend their cooperation.
