
Dimapur, July 30 (EMN): The Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK), in collaboration with the Tuensang district administration and Sakhi- One Stop Centre (OSC) under the aegis of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP), observed ‘World Day Against Trafficking in Person’ at Loyem Memorial College, Tuensang.
Herola, OSC case worker and the main speaker, highlighted the objectives of observing the ‘World Day Against Trafficking in Person’ around the world. She also gave details explanation on human rights to protect oneself.
Besides, the speaker also urged the gathering to note the universal women helpline number 181 and childline number 1089 to address any grievance.
The programme was chaired by MSK women welfare officer, Songmao M. It mentioned that students from various schools and colleges in Tuensang town attended the programme.
In a similar programme, the Peren district administration, in collaboration with MSK-district level centre for women (DLCW) and Sakhi-One Stop Centre observed the ‘World Day Against Trafficking in Persons’ at Peren Town Hall on July 30.
A DIPR report stated that the BBBP nodal officer and EAC Peren HQ, Kevethito Rose, delivered the welcome address-cum-key concept of the programme wherein he stated that human trafficking in South East Asian, especially Bangladesh and India have become a commodity.
The theme speaker and ASI of women police station, Jalukie, Tingkhovei Kuki, has stressed on the need for recognition, acceptance, respect and understanding of the victims to overcome human trafficking. She added that human trafficking has entered through forced labour, domestic help, sex-trafficking and organs trafficking where the victims did not have any choice but were forced. She also stated that the rescued victims required care, love and friendly approach to restore them to normal life.
The district child protection unit, advocate Asungbe Hau, shared on the topic “Trafficking in Peren district.”
