Kohima, SEPTEMBER 30: Unified District Information System for Education (U-DISE) Day-cum-sensitization on implementation of student data collection in-sync with U-DISE was held today at Ura Academy Hall, Kohima organised by District Mission Authority, SSA, Kohima.
Deputy Commissioner Kohima & Chairman DMA, SSA Kohima Rovilatuo Mor in his speech stressed on the importance of U-DISE and how the database collected through U-DISE will become valuable and relevant in effective planning.
Stating that U-DISE exercise is a mandatory exercise with strict instruction from the Ministry of Human Resource Department (MHRD) directing Universities and Boards to provide required data information, he asked all the Heads of Institutions to give due diligence and seriousness in furnishing their data in the prescribed format.
He stressed upon all the Heads of Institutions to provide accurate and clear information through U-DISE exercise within the deadline fixed by DMA (Government schools-October 15 and Private schools- October 28, since student enrolment is more in private schools) and that the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) will take serious note on the defaulting institutions of furnishing the data information. Further, he added that detailed instructions will be given by resource person and that the heads of institutions fully corporate in giving timely, accurate and up-to-date information through the U-DISE exercise. In her keynote address, Deputy District Education Officer i/c District Project Co-ordinator, DMA, SSA, Kohima Neizetuonuo, said U-DISE covers all the schools imparting formal education across the country and that Kohima has 301 schools to cover under the exercise. She stressed on the need to have consistent and realistic data at the grass root level through the U-Dise exercise.
U-DISE is used for monitoring activities of government flagship programmes such as SSA, RMSA and it continues to be the main instrument for monitoring school level indicators and also provides information about school level statistics, infrastructure, human resource and enrolment related details. It is also used as a tool to plan for inputs for the preparation of work planning and budget. She asked all the Heads of Institutions, the district and educational block functionaries to give effort and present realistic data suitable and workable to the needs of the school and the department.
Statistical Officer DSE Nagaland, Tsupithong one of the resource persons briefing on sensitization on implementation of student data collection in sync with U-DISE 2016-2017, talked about the vital role played by the collection of the U-DISE data since this data is also used by the user department. Citing the deficiencies in U-DISE exercise, he mentioned about Nagaland having the highest drop-out rate because of inflated enrolment number in school and also the variation in the total number of schools and actual number of schools. Suggestions to implement the U-DISE exercise include better coordination in the block level and cross examination of the data. Tsupithong also said U-DISE will be linked with the implementing agencies of scholarship through which every student that are eligible, both private and government can assess the online application for scholarships.
SMA, SSA Official, RMSA Official and Assistant Programmer DMA, SSA Kohima, Aseno were the other resource persons briefing on sensitization on implementation of student data collection in sync with U-DISE 2016-2017. Short speeches were delivered by SDEs of Kohima, Chiephobozou and Tseminyu. The chairperson was Thongsenlo, Assistant District Co-ordinator, DMA,SSA,Kohima and words of gratitude given by Kevisevolie Kevin Solo, District Data Entry Operator,DMA,SSA, Kohima.
