
Dimapur, Aug. 27 (EMN): In an effort to uplift the socio-economic status of women in the state, the deputy commissioner of Niuland, Sara S Jamir, handed over INR 36.42 lakh to 19 self help groups (SHG) during a district level credit workshop programme organised by the Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) on August 26 on the theme “SHG loan sanction day.”
Speaking on the occasion, Jamir expressed her support towards the bankers in nurturing the SHG, while she also called upon the SHG to maintain good credit ratings to further their business.
An update from NSRLM stated that the programme beagn with a welcome address delivered by Akumenla Aier, BDO of Niuland, wherein she highlighted the achievements of NSRLM.
It stated that the community cadres of BC Sakhi and bank Sakhis from NRB and SBI Niuland described their roles and responsibilities towards the community and shared their experiences on how NSRLM has benefited them and the community.
The SHG and VLO office bearers namely Hetoni Chishi and Khetoli Awomi have appreciated the efforts of NSRLM towards their socio-economic uplift.
Kethosituo Sekhose, DRDA project director of Dimapur, spoke on the importance of credit linkage and its utility for sustaining and improving livelihood by venturing into different business. He also encouraged the participants to take hold of every opportunity given by the banks for all round development in Niuland.
Neipedeu, NRB branch manager of Niuland, and Ramas Raimei, SBI branch manager of Niuland, have encouraged the SHGs to inculcate the habit of savings and to avail various social security schemes promoted by the banks.
Report stated that DMMU staff, BMMU staff in-charge of financial inclusion from all the six blocks under Dimapur district with 137 community leaders, VLO and SHG members from Niuland attended the programme.
