DIMAPUR — The Nsong Students’ Union (NSU) has
sought action against a teacher who has reportedly failed to submit her joining
report even after four months of her transfer order being issued by the
Directorate of School Education.
In a press release issued on Saturday, the union expressed
concern at the failure of one Lhingneineng Lhimsong, a Science graduate
teacher, who was transferred from GHS Lilen to GHS Nsong on September 6 last
year, to submit her joining report.
Citing the transfer order, the union stated that teachers
were required to report within 7 days, and no request for retention, reposting,
or transfer would be entertained.
However, it claimed that despite the lapse of four months,
Lhimsong has still not submitted her joining report, and no action has been
taken against her.
It added that the union has reached out to Lhimsong multiple
times but has received no positive response.
Also, the union stated that GHS Lilen has three Science
teachers, while GHS Nsong has been functioning without a Science teacher for
the past two years, which has drastically impacted the HSLC results and the
academic performance of students.
It therefore directed Lhimsong to immediately submit her
joining report in compliance with the rationalisation order.
The union also requested the deputy commissioner (DC) and
the district education officer (DEO) of Peren to withhold her salary until she
complies with the order.
It further urged the Directorate of School Education to
ensure her joining at GHS Nsong without further delay.
“Failure to act will force the union to escalate the matter
to the directorate and take legal action,” it stated.
