Nagaland government declares NSDMA services an Essential Service under the Essential Services (Maintenance) Act, 1978, following Cabinet approval
KOHIMA — Nagaland government has declared services rendered by the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) as an ‘Essential Service’ under the Nagaland Essential Services (Maintenance) Act, 1978.
According to a notification issued by the Home department on August 12, the declaration was made by the Governor of Nagaland under Section 2(a)(v) of the Act.
“With the notification, NSDMA shall be deemed to be included within the definition of Essential Services under sub-clause (v) of clause (a) of Section 2 of the Nagaland Essential Services (Maintenance) Act, 1978,” the notification stated.
The notification was issued with the approval of the state Cabinet, conveyed through a letter dated June 15, 2026.
It will come into force from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette, the notification stated.
