Dimapur, Oct. 2 (EMN): Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has condemned the farm bills, manhandling of Rahul Gandhi and the Hathras rape incident under the BJP-led NDA government at the centre.
The resolution to this effect was taken on the occasion of 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi (Sandesh Diwas), organised by the NPCC minority department held at Congress Bhawan, Dimapur, on October 2.
Addressing the gathering, NPCC president K Therie reminded the teachings and the non-violence propagated by Gandhi. He also highlighted the current issues confronting the country and the suffering of the people from atrocities under Modi’s regime.
He highlighted the bogus backdoor appointments by the present Nagaland government and the rampant corruption that is prevailing in the state. He also mentioned that it was the Congress, which acknowledged the Naga problems without any preconditions and worked for its solutions.
Also speaking on the occasion, chairman of NPCC minority department, Rajesh Kr Sethi stated that if Gandhi is alive today, he would be at the forefront to protest the farmer bills which was forcibly passed by “fascist” Modi government. Sethi also highlighted how UP's Yogi government had stopped Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi while they were on their way to meet the rape victim’s family at Hathras.
Sethi also paid tribute to former PM Lal Bahadur Shashtri and stated that his slogan ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’ has become not relevant today as there is ‘no safety for jawan and no safety for kisan’. He alleged that jawans are killed every second day at borders while the kisans are forced to commit suicide because of wrong policies of Modi government. He expressed optimism that truth would win one day over Modi's lies.
Stating that Gandhi fought the British without any sign of fear and freed India from their clutches, Sethi said that Rahul, “another Gandhi”, is fighting tooth and nail with the “fascist” Modi BJP government and RSS today.
President of Nagaland NSUI, X Chopika Sumi, drew a comparison on how Mahatma Gandhi and the Congress brought freedom and how the Modi government has sabotaged independent institutions set up by the Congress. He called upon the workers to be more resolute to save the soul of India.
NPCC vice president W Akum Yimchunger and the chairman of kisan cell V Lasuh also spoke on the occasion.
The programme began with the singing of national anthem, while the invocation was said by general secretary (admn) of minority department Ajit Gogoi, followed by speech from its vice president Javed Sarwar, who briefed the gathering on history of Gandhi. NK Naga performed a song and general secretary Salikur Raja Khan proposed the vote of thanks.
