
DIMAPUR — Northfield Higher Secondary School (NHSS) organised a one-day in-service teacher training programme on ‘effective classroom teaching using the constructivist approach’ in collaboration with the Modern Institute of Teacher Education (MITE), Kohima, on Monday in the school premises in Kohima.
Delivering the welcome address on the occasion, Pheluopfhelie Kesiezie, managing director of NHSS, mentioned that the school aims to bring about changes in education by promoting learning with understanding and joyful learning.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]Dr. T S Pandian, faculty at MITE, delivering the keynote speech, spoke about the importance of constructivism, empowering students, and the need for knowledge activation in schools.
Dr. Kate Dandesh Kumar, principal of MITE, emphasised in his speech that teachers are continuous learners and that learning is a turning point in everyone's life. He said implementing constructivism is crucial for the needs of today's society.
After the inaugural session, teachers were divided subject-wise and attended sessions on pedagogy for specific subjects - Science, Mathematics, English, and Social Science.
Resource persons from MITE conducted training on the constructivist teaching approach and the 5E learning plan. Feedback was collected from the participating teachers at the end of the training programme.
