Dimapur, May 29 (EMN): Government registered NGOs in Nagaland has formed an association named as ‘NGOs forum Nagaland’ during its first general meeting held in the NEISSR conference hall on May 25.
The forum press release issued by its treasurer, Kashito Kiba, stated that the formation of forum has been a long felt need of the government registered NGOs working in different developmental sectors in Nagaland.
The forum was formed with guidelines to support the organisation’s vision, mission and values. It would provide a platform for NGOs active in many parts of Nagaland and contribute towards governance and development process in Nagaland.
The forum affirmed to uphold highest level of ethical behaviour and responsibility for their action and maintain integrity in their performance. It would advocate and foster closer collaboration and co-operate between NGOs and the government authority.
It would provide a platform for organisations working on social welfare services to meet and discuss issues of common interest and to share information, experience and good practices, build capacity and provide networking opportunities in the district and state and contribute towards promotion and protection of human rights in Nagaland.
It would also strive to safeguard the rights of NGOs and help the government in implementing its policies, programmes and schemes.
The has elected Dr. Hesheto Chishi, director of indigenous cultural society, as chairman; Rhuletsu, IBAPWO, Kiphire, as vice chairperson; Ms Ainla Pongen as general secretary; Sr Pramila, director of ACID, as finance secretary; Jess T Murry as joint finance secretary; Kashito Kiba, MD of Pheto Music Association, as treasurer; Meren and D Adani of Cherry Blossom Society, Kohima, as information secretaries.
