DoSE organises science seminar
DIMAPUR — The Directorate of School Education (DoSE) conducted the State Level Science Seminar 2026 on the theme “Indian Energy Basket 2047: Prospect and Challenges” at Morung Hall, DoSE, Kohima, on Thursday. Chemwao P Konyak, representing St. John Higher Secondary School, Mon, won the first position, while Immanuel from St. Peter School, Longsa, Wokha, and Ivy Senilo Ngullie from Santsuo School, Wokha, stood second and third respectively. Chemwao P Konyak will represent Nagaland at the upcoming National Science Seminar, to be held in Delhi on October 30. The panel of judges included Avino Tase, deputy director, Imkongsenla, assistant director, and Dr Chumbeni Kikon, assistant director. Earlier, Shashank Pratap Singh, principal director, DoSE, attended the opening ceremony of the event.
Tuensang DPDB meeting held
The Tuensang District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting was held on October 7 at the DC’s conference hall, with Deputy Commissioner Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa in the chair. According to a DIPR report, the board reviewed the minutes of the previous meeting before deliberating on the day’s agenda. It recommended the upgrade of Star Kids Montessori School from Class 1 to Class 2 for the 2027 academic session. Chief Veterinary Officer, Tuensang, made a PowerPoint presentation on the activities of the Veterinary & Animal Husbandry department, highlighting public welfare initiatives, including cattle insurance and other facilities available through designated offices and centres. Superintendent of Police, Tuensang, raised concern over alcohol consumption in the district, stating that 11 lives had been lost due to illicit liquor. He thanked the public for supporting the police in identifying locations where liquor was being sold. The DC also directed district heads of offices to obtain government land pattas for their offices and quarters to prevent future encroachment.
ICFAI University Nagaland observes foundation day
The ICFAI University Nagaland observed its University Foundation Day-cum-NJY Memorial Lecture at its auditorium on Thursday. The university organises the annual lecture in remembrance of the founder of the ICFAI Society, late NJ Yashashwy, whose initiative led to the establishment of 11 universities across India, of which five are in the North East, the university stated in an update. ICFAI aims to make professional and traditional education affordable to all deserving students. The programme was chaired by Rashmi Panda, assistant professor, Computer Science. Keneingulie Sanyi Meyase and Tangsoi Shiu, students of MA English and MA Political Science, respectively, shared their experiences at the university, while assistant professor of Economics Dr Sumanta Kumar Mahapatra spoke about his journey at the university.
