Unidentified male dead body recovered in Dimapur
DIMAPUR — An unidentified male dead body was recovered near Rail Bazaar in Dimapur on August 17. According to a press note from the office of the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, telephonic information was received at the Sub-Urban Police Station at around 8 am stating that the body was lying in the area. Upon receiving the information, police personnel rushed to the spot for verification. An inquest was subsequently conducted, and it was ascertained that the cause of death is suspected to be starvation. Following the completion of legal formalities, the deceased was shifted to the District Hospital Dimapur morgue for a post-mortem examination and identification. Inspection of shops, businesses conducted in Atoizu
A joint inspection of shops and business establishments across Atoizu town was conducted on August 18 to strengthen consumer protection and promote lawful business practices. According to a DIPR report, the inspection was undertaken by a coordinated team comprising officials of the district administration, dobashis, Atoizu Town Council, and Atoizu Police. The team scrutinised trade licences, hygiene standards, and food products available for sale. The operation led to the seizure of a sizeable quantity of expired food items, which were subsequently destroyed at a designated disposal site to prevent their sale or consumption.
PAC meeting scheduled for August 24
Member of Legislative Assembly and Chairperson of the Committee on Public Accounts Mhathung Yanthan has convened a meeting of the committee for the adoption of its reports on August 24. According to a press release from the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) secretariat, the meeting will be held at 11 am at the C Chongshen Chang Committee Room of the NLA in Kohima. All concerned committee members have been requested to make it convenient to attend the meeting on the designated date and time.
UCO Bank hands over scooties to Kohima DC office
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative for the financial year 2026-27, the UCO Bank, Kohima branch, handed over scooties to the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Kohima on Wednesday. The scooties were formally handed over in the presence of Deputy Commissioner B Henok Buchem; Resources Head of UCO Jorhat Headquarters Acharya Sonowal; and officials of the district administration and UCO Bank at the deputy commissioner’s office chamber.
