Training on NSSK held in Phek
DIMAPUR — Phek district conducted a training on Navjaat Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (NSSK), essential newborn care and resuscitative training, for nurses from District Hospital, CHC Chozuba, Meluri and Pfutsero on June 1 and 2 at the District Hospital Phek with Dr. Seyiekhrietuo Rutsa, paediatrician, as the resource person. The main aim of the training was to impart and reorient the healthcare providers with the basic skills required to manage common neonatal problems related to birth asphyxia, infections, hypothermia and breastfeeding.

Dimapur Press Club (DPC), Kohima Press Club (KPC) and Nagaland Press Association (NPA) have condoled the demise of Waitola Longkumer, mother of Moa Longkumer, news editor of Nagaland Page and former president of Dimapur Press Club, who passed away on June 2 following prolonged illness. In separate statements, the press clubs conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed to the Almighty to grant them comfort and strength in their hour of grief and sorrow. It further prayed for peace of the departed soul.
UCTE organises workshop on self defence
Education department of Unity College of Teacher Education (UCTE), Dimapur, conducted a workshop on ‘self defence’ on Friday. An update from the college stated that renowned Shoalin Brothers namely Ruokuo John Soruno, Meyieshielie Albert Soruno and David Keninguto Soruno were the resource persons of the workshop. Apart from an eye capturing demonstration of various Shoalin styles and techniques, the student-teachers were also initiated into some basic styles and techniques. The session was appreciated by both the faculty and the student-teachers.
Plantation drive in Zunheboto town
As part of World Environment Day, Zunheboto district administration will organise a massive plantation drive at various locations in Zunheboto town including DC complex, DC residence, Circuit House, Government College, District Hospital, SP office, NHIDCL and Government Higher Secondary School on June 4. The Zunheboto DC, Rahul Bhanudas Mali, informed that the plantation drive would start at 8 am. He added that tree sapling provided by the Forest department would be transported to the respective locations by Zunheboto Town Council on June 3. He further informed all the officers in-charge to ensure receipt of the saplings.
