School dept. formulating modalities for admission
DIMAPUR — The principal director of School Education has notified that the modalities for the implementation of the provisions of the ‘Nagaland Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (Manner of admission of minimum 25 % children in class I or pre-school at the entry level for the children belonging to disadvantaged groups and weaker sections) Rules, 2016’ are being formulated by the department. All concerned are informed to wait for the notification regarding the modalities for the implementation of the provisions of Section 12 (1) (C) of the RTE Act, 2009. “Till such time, this office notification of even number dated 12th April 2023 shall be kept on hold,” it stated.

All Nagaland Private Schools Association (ANPSA) has expressed gratitude to Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, for instituting the Chief Minister’s Meritorious Students Fellowship (CMMSF) for meritorious students, which could be the first of its kind in the country. ANPSA has issued the statement following its members meeting with the chief minister, deputy chief minister, chief secretary and other officials at his official residence in Kohima on May 3 where they have discussed various critical issues. ANPSA central office bearers conveyed their gratitude to the chief minister for his commitment to implement appropriate measures in response to the concerns raised during the discussions.
Committee on Estimates to meet on May 11
The Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat has informed that the advisor and chairman of the Committee on Estimates, K Tokugha Sukhalu, has convened a sitting of the committee on May 11 at 11 am in the committee room of the Assembly Secretariat, Kohima. All the members of the Committee on Estimates are requested to attend the meeting.
Chümoukedima Treasury functional for pension payment
The senior treasury officer of Dimapur has informed that the office of the senior treasury officer in Chümoukedima is fully functional for payment of monthly pension salary. Pensioners opting to draw their monthly salary from Chümoukedima treasury are asked to apply for transfer through proper application.
NBCD to organise social work
The Notun Bosti Council Dimapur (NBCD) will organise a mass social work on May 6 from 6 am onwards within the colony jurisdiction. The council, in a press release, informed all the residents and business establishments under Notun Bosti colony to clean their respective surrounding areas and drainage. The council cautioned that necessary action would be taken against those who fail to participate in the social work.
NSCN (Akato) conveys Miu greetings
Akato Chophi-led NSCN/GPRN has greeted the Khiamniungan Nagas on the occasion of 'Miu' festival, which falls on May 5. “The other purpose of the Miu festival is to build and reinforce relations between a maternal uncle and his nephews and nieces where the maternal uncle offers prayers for granting prosperity and power over enemies to his nephews and nieces,” the NSCN/GPRN stated in its greetings. It has wished prosperity, strength and good health upon the Khiamniungans brothers and sisters so as to enable them to continue to strengthen the bond of oneness and love among the Naga families.

The monthly of Zunheboto district planning and development board (DPDB) has been scheduled on May 10 in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office at 11 am. All the concerned members are requested to take note and attend the meeting.
SJU organises community outreach programme
Postgraduate-II students of Psychology and Counseling department of St. Joseph University along with two faculty participated in a community outreach programme, which was conducted in association with Gracious Life Foundation at Diphupar-A on May 3. It stated that Lisali M Humtsoe, founder and director of Gracious Life Foundation, and Sukum Aier, coordinator and counselor of Gracious Life Foundation, emphasised on the importance of mental health and also discussed various mental health issues. They highlighted the need to identify early symptoms and seek professional help. They also emphasised on the need to do away with stigma and misconceptions associated with mental health issues in the community.
NU introduces Anthropology in MA
The vice chancellor of Nagaland University (NU) has introduced MA Degree in Anthropology department in addition to M. Sc Degree with effect from academic session 2023- 24. It informed that the notification issued by registrar vide NU/ACAD- 308/ 2023- 443 dated April 25 would be subjected to ratification by the Academic Council. Consequently, it stated that students with Arts background to UG (Under Graduate) would be awarded for MA Degree in Anthropology, stated a DIPR report.
Changtongya departmental coordination meeting held
Changtongya sub-divisional departmental coordination meeting was held on Thursday at SDO (C) office. The SDO(C) welcomed the special guest and MLA, Nukluktoshi.
