SCERT apologises for textbook error
DIMAPUR — The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Nagaland, has issued an apology for a spelling error in the name of the Khiamniungan tribe that appeared in the Nagaland Heritage Studies (Alternative English) Class 8 textbook. In a letter addressed to the PRESIDENT of the Khiamniungan Students’ Union, Noklak, the SCERT stated that the tribe’s name was incorrectly printed as “Khiamniungam” instead of “Khiamniungan.” The council acknowledged the mistake and described it as unintentional despite efforts made during the preparation and review of the textbook. The SCERT further stated that textbooks are important learning resources for students and admitted that such errors could create confusion and inconvenience. The council also assured that corrective measures would be taken to prevent similar mistakes in future publications. Further, it appreciated the observations and feedback provided regarding the error and reiterated its regret over the oversight while seeking cooperation and understanding from the concerned parties.
Meluri gears up for monsoon
A coordination meeting on pre-monsoon preparedness under the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Meluri, was held on May 22 at the DB’s Court, Deputy Commissioner’s office, Meluri. The meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner & Chairman, DDMA Meluri, Phuleshe K Yepthomi, to strengthen preparedness measures ahead of the monsoon season in the district, a DIPR report stated. The DC emphasised the importance of timely coordination among departments and urged all concerned agencies to remain alert and ensure necessary arrangements are in place for public safety and disaster response during the monsoon period Officials from various government departments attended the meeting and discussed preparedness strategies, inter-departmental coordination, emergency response mechanisms, and preventive measures to minimise risks arising from heavy rainfall, landslides, flash floods, and other monsoon-related disasters. The meeting also featured a PowerPoint presentation on pre-monsoon preparedness delivered by David Thupitor, Nodal officer DDMA, Meluri.
Tuli gets new SDPO office
The inauguration programme of the SDPO Office, Tuli, was held on May 22 at the Tuli Police Station premises in the presence of officials, police personnel, church leaders, and the general public. According to a DIPR report, the event was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung, Vesupra Kezo, as the special guest. In his welcome address, Aketo Chisho, SDPO Tuli, highlighted that the occasion was a significant step towards improving policing and public service delivery in the subdivision. He clarified that the office was not newly established but relocated from the ADC Office premises to a more dedicated and efficient workspace. Chisho expressed gratitude to the ADC Office, Tuli for accommodating the SDPO office since the 1990s and acknowledged their continued support in ensuring uninterrupted police administration over the years. He also reaffirmed the department’s commitment to upholding the rule of law with integrity, fairness and cooperation with the public.
NPF, NGA mourn Khotuoü
The Naga People’s Front (NPF) Mon division and Nagaland Gorkha Association (NGA) have condoled the demise of Khotuoü Liezietsu, wife of former chief minister Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu. In a condolence message, the NPF Mon division stated that Khotuoü was “known as deeply religious, humble and kind hearted woman whose life reflected faith, compassion and service to humanity. Her passing is a great loss not only to the bereaved family but also to all who knew her.” “At this hour of mourning, the NPF Mon Division conveys its heartfelt condolences to Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu and the bereaved family members.” In a separate condolence message, the NGA conveyed heartfelt condolences to Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu and family on the “shocking demise of Madam Khotuo-ü Leizietsu.” “The NGA prays that God gives the bereaved family the strength and comfort to overcome this sad moment and also prays for eternal peace for the departed soul,” the message read.
