Power shutdown in Dimapur
Dimapur, Oct. 21 (EMN): As per the department declaration of May and October as “Vegetation clearance months,” Dimapur transmission division will undertake vegetation clearance from October 25 to the 29th. In this regard, the department would initiate power shutdown on lines and sub-stations from 6 am to 9 am. Power supply to Ganeshnagar, Jalukie, Chümukedima and Sovima sub-stations on October 25, Ganeshnagar sub-station, Peren district, Shoxuvi and Dhansiripar on October 26 and 27, Power House (Burma Camp), Dairy Farm, Nito Farm sub-stations and Niuland on October 28, and Dairy Farm, Nito Farm sub-stations and Niuland on October 29.
PAC chairman convenes meeting
Dimapur, Oct. 21 (EMN): Advisor of School Education and chairman of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, KT Sukhalu, has convened an introductory-cum-adoption meeting of the Public Accounts Committee on October 27 in the Committee Room of the Assembly Secretariat at 11 am. All the members of the committee are requested to attend the meeting.
Mordern College organises career guidance programme
Dimapur, Oct. 21 (EMN): Training and Placement Cell of Modern College organised a career guidance programme on October 21 at the college auditorium with A MoamonglaAier, associate professor of Political Science at Dimapur Government College, as the guest speaker on the topic “Art of public speaking.” An update from the college stated that the speaker has emphasised on the growing importance of the art of speaking irrespective of one’s career or profession. She urged the students to inculcate the art of speaking in a positive way. Altogether, 250 students and faculty attended the programme.
ZLSUN seeks casual leave for employees
Dimapur, Oct. 21 (EMN): As the Zeliang community geared up to celebrate Chaga Gadi/ Lamsimngi festival on October 30 and 31, the Zeliang Students’ Union, Nagaland (ZLSUN) has appealed to the state government to grant casual leave to all the members from its community to enable them participate in the celebrations. The union also conveyed greetings to the Zeliang community on Chega Gadi and Lamsimngi festival celebration. The festival is celebrated to give thanks to the Almighty god for the rich harvest and good health. It expressed hope that the celebration would bring prosperity, peace, and unity among the Zeliang community in particular and the Nagas in general.
FGN-NNC joint meeting on Oct. 31
Dimapur, Oct. 21 (EMN): The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has convened a joint meeting of the Naga National Council (NNC) and the FGN on October 31 at 10 am at Transit Peace Camp, Kohima. “The meeting will mainly discuss on the running situation in Nagaland,” FGN informed in an update. All the central authorities, regional authorities and high-ranking Naga army officers of the NNC/FGN have been requested to attend the meeting.
NSCN/GPRN condoles demise of cadre
Dimapur, Oct. 21 (EMN): The NSCN/GPRN (Niki) has condoled the death of its joint secretary, Aketo Jakhalu, who passed away on October 20. The NSCN/GPRN in a condolence message stated that late Jakhalu who joined the national service on December 7, 2010, was a young and energetic individual and served the nation with utmost devotion. “The NSCN/GPRN honours Late Aketo for his selfless service towards the cause of the Naga people and shall be kept in records the services rendered by him in different capacities,” it stated.
JD(U) officials visit ATO areas
Dimapur, Oct. 21 (EMN): The intending candidate of Janata Dal United for 5 Ghaspani AC, Kitoho S Rotokha, accompanied by party workers undertook a series of campaign to ATO areas including Toshiho, Khehoi and S Hetoi villages on October 21. In his speeches, Kitoho has lamented lack of development in the areas. An update from the party stated that GBs, elders, village council members, youth organisations and women organisations of those villages had a threadbare discussion with the intending candidate on matters relating to development of villages. Meanwhile, Kitoho has urged the gathering to rise above isms and petty politics and stand up for their rights.
Cleanliness drive held at GMS Leinak
Dimapur, Oct. 21 (EMN): As part of month-long special Swachhta Campaign 2.0 under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, KVK Longleng, organised a cleanliness drive at Government Middle School, Leinak, on October21. During the programme, Dr. Lily Ngullie, SMS, highlighted the importance of frequent washing of hands, keeping the school surrounding clean and general hygiene practices. She also encouraged the children to maintain kitchen garden by utilising the waste materials as compost. The school management thanked the KVK department for organising awareness programme in the school.
DC Kohima notifies public
Dimapur, Oct. 21 (EMN): The deputy commissioner of Kohima, Shanavas C, in an order, has directed immediate removal of off road-vehicles and roadside dumped construction materials along the road stretches including TCP Gate till IG Stadium, High School Junction till New Secretariat and, Razhü Point till TCP gate via Assam Rifles Camp, on or before October 25. The DC stated that “the off-road vehicles and roadside dumped construction materials are causing obstruction for free movement of vehicles and defacement of public spaces, thereby, creating public nuisance.” In the event of refusal or failure to comply with the order, the authority will take necessary action as per the penal provision of the law, it stated.
