Power shutdown in parts of Dimapur
Dimapur, Dec. 8 (EMN): In view of dismantling and shifting of old existing HT and LT lines to newly erected trunk line in Dimapur town area, the Power department has informed the initiate power shutdown from December 9 to the 19th from 3 am to 8 am.
It informed that Power supply would be affected at GS Road, Marawari Patti, Hongkong Market, Hazi Park, New Market, DMC, Old BOC and Thakurbari on December 9 and 12; Clock Tower, Tata Parking, Blue Hill, Eros lane, Golaghat Road, DDSC, Zakiesatuo, Gorrapatti and Khermahal areas on December 13; Blue Hill, Eros lane, Golaghat Road, DDSC, Zakiesatuo and Gorrapatti area on December 14; and PWD, Midland, Residency, Supply, Duncan, Landmark colonies on December 15, 16 and 19. All the consumers in the affected areas are requested to cooperate and bear with the inconvenience during the shutdown period.
DC Wokha issues traffic advisory
Dimapur, Dec. 8 (EMN): The deputy commissioner of Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, has, in an advisory, informed that all forms of vehicular movement from Km 79+ 250 (Zero Point) to Km 83+00 (Hammock Resort), would remain closed from 7 am of December 10 till 7am of December 12. All medium and light vehicles travelling on Mokokchung-Wokha-Kohima route have been advised to use diversion route Alichen-Mangmetong-Doyang Reservoir-Wokha “O” Point during the said closure period. The road closure was necessitated in view of the road blockade caused due to mud deposits and rock debris along the NH-2 and overhanging boulders which poses threat to life of passersby.
Mokokchung TB Forum holds meeting
Dimapur, Dec. 8 (EMN): Mokokchung District TB Forum Committee held a meeting on Thursday in at the conference hall of the chief medical officer’s (CMO) office under the chairmanship of the deputy commissioner. Addressing the meeting, Dr. Limatula Aier, CMO, urged the participants to coordinate, disseminate information and awareness on TB elimination to all corners of Mokokchung. The district TB officer, Dr. Toshila, while highlighting the objectives of the meeting, said that the meeting was organised to discuss on the problems faced by TB patients, reduce stigma and discrimination, provide awareness on government scheme, advocate strict adherence of treatment duration of six months and nutritional support and community engagement to the affected community. She further sought the community participation to eliminate TB by 2025.
Shiponger VGs observe 50 years anniversary
Dimapur, Dec. 8 (EMN): The Village Guards of Shiponger village observed its 50th anniversary with the advisor of Information and Public Relations and Village Guards, S Keoshu, as the special guest. The advisor thanked all the village guards for their selfless sacrifice and service towards the village despite limitations. Keoshu stated that village guards play an important role in protecting village and maintaining law and orders within its jurisdiction. He also unveiled the 50th anniversary monolith on the occasion, a DIPR report stated.
AR conducts medical camp in Shingnyu
Dimapur, Dec. 8 (EMN): Shamator Battalion of the Assam Rifles organised a medical camp in Shingnyu village under Mon district on December 6. The camp was aimed at providing free check-up, ENT, preliminary diagnosis and regular check-up for aliments like common cold, cough, lower backache and skin diseases etc., an update stated. The chief medical officer (CMO) of Shamator battalion along with a team from company operating base at DAN (ITC Dan) treated the patients. About 115 patients of all ages were treated and some with serious ailments were advised to go to Noklak for further diagnosis. Free medicines along with medical aids were provided to the needy.
PDGBA elects new team
Dimapur, Dec. 8 (EMN): Peren District GBs’ Association (PDGBA) held its general meeting-cum-selection of office bearers on December 7 at Women Conference Hall in Jalukie town. An update informed that the meeting was attended by 170 representatives from 75 villages under Peren district. The house also elected a new team of office bearers for the tenure 2023-2027. The team is led by Kwetlungying Chuilo as president, Heisolu Sephe as vice president, Hiateibe Namcyn Hau as general secretary and Irangdaung as treasurer.
Tourism dept. fetes Jio Infocomm
Dimapur, Dec. 8 (EMN): The state department of Tourism has acknowledged Jio Infocomm Limited for providing Wi-Fi and ILL services for the Hornbill Festival since 2017. A certificate of appreciation was presented to the senior vice president, Sanjay Sur, and state coordinator for Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, Bendang Longchari, at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, on Thursday.
NSCN conveys ‘Terhunyi’ greetings
Dimapur, Dec. 8 (EMN): NSCN/GPRN (Akato Chophi) has conveyed ‘Terhunyi’ greetings to the Angami Nagas. The NSCN, in festive greetings, stated that the Angami Naga celebrates many festivals and Terhunyi is one of them, which falls on December 9 as a thanksgiving to God for health and good harvest. “As our Angami brothers and sisters celebrate Terhunyi, may the spirit of oneness, reconciliation, forgiveness, forbearance, peace and harmony continue to prevail,” it stated.
