Deputy CM Patton lauds passage of FNTA Bill

DIMAPUR — Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland Y Patton has welcomed the unanimous passage of the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority Bill (FNTA), 2026, by the Nagaland Legislative Assembly. Patton, who moved the Bill in the House, said its passage marks an important step towards fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Eastern Nagaland through an agreed framework within the State, his office stated in a press release. He acknowledged the roles of the Government of India, Government of Nagaland, Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) and all others involved in the process. Patton also expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, his colleagues and all members of the Assembly for their support and collective approach towards the Bill. He expressed hope that the FNTA would strengthen governance, promote development and ensure greater participation of the people of Eastern Nagaland in matters concerning their region. He called for continued cooperation and understanding for the peace, progress and unity of Nagaland.

Police recover unidentified body

An unidentified non-local man, aged around 35 to 40 years, was found dead near the gate of Zeliangrongram village on September 4. According to a press release issued by Dimapur Police, telephonic information regarding the body was received at West Police Station at around 6:30 am. Following the information, a police team rushed to the site and conducted an investigation. An inquest was conducted over the body in the presence of the Zeliangrongram village Council chairman and youths. Police stated that no foul play was detected during the inquest. After completion of the necessary legal formalities, the body was shifted to the District Hospital Dimapur morgue for post-mortem examination. The deceased was wearing red and cream-coloured half pants and no shirt. His hands were folded. Police appealed to any claimant, relative or friend of the deceased to contact the officer-in-charge of West Police Station, Dimapur, at 7085055024.

Chozuba coordination meeting

Advisor for CAWD Kudecho Khamo has convened a coordination meeting for all departments under Chozuba sub-division at Vamuzo Memorial Town Hall on September 9 at 11 am. According to a notification issued by EAC Chozuba, Dr Cthitu Nienu, all departments have been directed to present a brief report on all schemes and activities being implemented under the sub-division during the meeting.
