Army conducts outreach at Patkai Christian College
DIMAPUR — An outreach programme on recruitment into the Indian Armed Forces was conducted at Patkai Christian College, Chümoukedima, on Wednesday by the Army Recruiting Office, Rangapahar Military Station, in coordination with 1 Nagaland Air Squadron NCC. The programme was attended by officers, instructors and more than 300 NCC cadets. According to an update, a doctor from the Army Recruiting Office explained the Agnipath Scheme, its benefits and career opportunities after the four-year tenure. The session also covered officer entry schemes, including the National Defence Academy, the Officers Training Academy, the Military Nursing Service, and the Territorial Army, along with the Services Selection Board interview process.
ENWA welcomes Assembly’s support for FNTA autonomy
The Eastern Naga National Workers Association (ENWA) has welcomed the Nagaland Assembly’s decision to support legislative, executive and financial autonomy under the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA), describing it as a positive step towards ensuring balanced development in eastern Nagaland. In a press note, the association also welcomed the Assembly’s proposed visit to New Delhi for consultations with the Union Home Minister and other agencies, saying it could help clear doubts following the signing of the MoA on February 5, 2026. ENWA also criticised some Eastern Nagaland Legislators’ Union members for opposing legislative provisions under FNTA and urged that such members not be included in the proposed delegation.
District-level training on PPC held in Jalukie
The Department of Rural Development, District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Peren, conducted a district-level training on the People's Plan Campaign (PPC) for preparing the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) for the 2026-27 financial year at the Women Hall, Jalukie, on July 7. According to an update, Project Director Rongsenmenla highlighted the importance of inclusive rural planning and urged coordination among line departments and Gram Panchayats. Technical sessions covered the PPC framework and the Village Poverty Reduction Plan. Officials from 16 line departments attended.
Tuensang Forest Division holds institutional connectivity meeting
The Tuensang Forest Division under the Forest & Biodiversity Management in the Himalaya (Nagaland) Project organised an Institutional Connectivity consultative meeting on July 7 at the Office of the Divisional Forest Officer, Tuensang. According to an update, the meeting was attended by Community Conserved Area (CCA) chairmen, CCA secretaries, village council chairmen from Hak, Nakshou, Yali, Lokhung, Momching and Saoshou villages, and officials of the Tuensang Forest Range. The meeting discussed institutional connectivity, the formation of the Joint CCA Committee, its structure, roles, responsibilities and rules. Six villages under the Sangyochung cluster agreed to work together through joint community conserved areas.
