One unidentified body recovered
DIMAPUR — The Dimapur Police recovered the body of an unidentified non-Naga male, aged around 50 to 55 years, from the siding area opposite Railway Bazaar on Wednesday. A police report stated that an inquest was conducted over the dead body and ascertained the cause of death to be due to illness. It added that the body has been taken to the District Hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination after the completion of all legal formalities. The deceased was wearing a white shirt and blue half-pants. Relatives and friends of the deceased have been requested to contact the officer-in-charge of the Government Railway Police Station in Dimapur at 7085055021 for further information.
Modern College organises extension service
The National Cadet Corps, Red Ribbon Club, and National Service Scheme units of Modern College organised an extension outreach programme in Mengujuma village, Kohima, on Wednesday, in collaboration with the Mengujuma Village Council and the Mengujuma Students’ Union. A total of 27 volunteers and five faculty members participated in the programme. According to a press release, during the visit, the volunteers had the opportunity to meet and interact with the eldest member of the village. The team also visited the local primary school, where they engaged with the students through interactive and enjoyable activities. In addition, a cleanliness drive was carried out in and around the village to promote awareness of hygiene and environmental responsibility among the residents.
PM SHRI GHS Yangphi felicitates HSLC students
A felicitation programme for the successful students of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination 2026 was held at PM SHRI Government High School Yangphi in Kiphire on Wednesday. During the programme, Lutoli Sangtam, a former teacher and SMDC member, fulfilled her earlier promise made during last year’s cultural day by awarding INR 10,000 to the student securing the highest marks among those who achieved first division. This year, two students secured first division, Yanglitsala and Tsuvenlin. Among them, Tsuvenlin, who secured the highest marks, received the cash award. In addition, a small token of appreciation was also given to all the passed-out students from the school. (Our Correspondent)

One-day PLC training conducted in Bhandari
A one-day professional learning community (PLC) training for subject committee members (SCMs) under NECTAR–The Lighthouse was conducted at the Yampha village community hall in Bhandari on April 28. According to a DIPR report, Y Thungdemo Humtsoe, Coordinator of EBRC Bhandari, was the resource person during the programme. He highlighted the purpose and vision of the Professional Learning Community, online learning, and the new lesson plan format in line with the National Education Policy 2020. He stated that digital competencies are essential for teachers and students as they involve the ability to find, evaluate, create, and communicate information effectively using digital tools. More than 20 SCMs from various schools attended the training.
Nagaland SEC approves ROs, AROs
The Nagaland State Election Commission (SEC) has approved the officers designated as returning officers (ROs) and assistant returning officers (AROs) for the ensuing fresh elections in Chümoukedima, Wokha, and Atoizu town councils. According to a notification, the officers were recommended by the respective DCs for Ward 11 (Chaara) of Chümoukedima Town Council, Ward 8 (Tsumang 'B') of Wokha Town Council, and Ward 9 (Samba Ghoki) of Atoizu Town Council. For the Chümoukedima Town Council, Dr. Kuzonyi Wideo, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Chümoukedima, has been designated as the RO, while Khriengunuo Theunuo, Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) of Chümoukedima, has been designated as the ARO. For the Wokha Town Council, Renbemo Ezung, ADC Wokha, is the RO, and Thepfuzakie Sanchu, EAC Wokha, is the ARO. For the Atoizu Town Council, Nukutulu S Venuh, ADC, is the RO, and Dr. Samuel Akho Konyak P, EAC, is the ARO.
FGN welcomes national workers
The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN), led by Kedahge Brig. (Retd.) S Singnya, welcomed the homecoming of national workers, including civil authorities and Naga Army personnel from the Chakhesang region, led by 5th Bde Commander Southern Command (S/C) Naga Army, who left the Thupuneyi Rhakho group. According to a press release, the joining of the workers will strengthen the Chakhesang region and the Naga nation under the leadership of Brig. (Retd.) S Singnya. The returning Naga Army personnel are Brigadier Kuveshevo Venuh, Commander of the 5th Brigade, Southern Command; Major Rami Venuh; Major Mulukhoto Chizo; Major Kevi; Captain Veneo; and Lieutenant Vesavo. Meanwhile, Toto Nienu has been appointed as the acting Midan Peyu of the Chakhesang region.
