NSACS designates HIV ombudsman
DIMAPUR — Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) has designated its joint secretary, Renabomo Odyuo, as HIV ombudsman for grievance redressal system. It informed that complaints and grievances relating to discrimination and violation of rights of HIV infected and affected persons could be reported on email hivombudsman.ngl@gmail.com or contact him on phone no. +91 9362797091. As part of the ongoing ‘Domestic Workers’ Week,’ Ferrando Domestic Workers’ Alliance (FDWA) undertook a cleanliness drive in Kohima town on Friday. The main purpose of the cleanliness drive was to create awareness among the public regarding cleanliness and its benefits. The FDWA staff along with the domestic workers cleared wrappers scattered on the road sides and also cleaned road drainages. The cleanliness drive was initiated to transform the face of the society.
WYH extends solidarity with NFHRCC
Western Yimkhiung Hoho (WYH), while expressing solidarity with the Nagaland Foot Hill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC), has appealed to the government of the day to take up the foothill road on utmost priority. Stating that the said project was a cherished dream of the Nagas, it urged the government to understand the importance of the said project. It further urged the government to uphold its resolution adopted on September 22, 2023, during the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly to construct the road under NEC funding.
Training for CWC members
The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), in collaboration with the Nagaland State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NSCPCR), will organise a seven-day residential training for the chairpersons and members of child welfare committee (CWC) from all the districts of Nagaland. The training would be conducted from June 19 to the 25th at Hotel 2k, Ladies Mile Road, Officers Hill, Kohima.
Cardamom from Peren dispatched to Mumbai
The first batch of spices from the Peren district was delivered to Mumbai based company under the initiatives of district administration. A DIPR report stated that two loads of cardamom were dispatched as a pilot project last month. It was done as a demonstration exercise for farmers and FPO about the availability of abundant avenues for the spices market outside the state. The effort was to make it sustainable by promoting local entrepreneurs, who could take up the project. It was expected that farmers of the district would come forward and utilise the established market linkage to realise better prices and income.
DC Wokha issues public notification
The deputy commissioner of Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, has informed that unauthorised structures would be removed by use of force beginning on June 19. The DC has issued this notification in continuation of its order dated April 18 and May 29. He stated that on the expiry of the stipulated time, unauthorised structures would be removed by use of force.
