NWHD urges swift action in sexual harassment case
DIMAPUR — The Naga Women Hoho Dimapur (NWHD) has unequivocally condemned the act of sexual harassment committed against a young girl from the Naga community by a non-local individual. In a press release, the women hoho stated that the reprehensible incident not only constitutes a grave violation of the victim’s fundamental rights to life, dignity, and equality, but also represents an attack on the collective conscience of society. The NWHD demanded swift, transparent, and stringent legal action against the perpetrator to ensure that justice is not only done but is also seen to be done. “Such incidents, if left unaddressed with the full force of the law, have the potential to create a climate of fear and insecurity, particularly for women and girls from marginalized communities,” it stated.
Kijümetouma gets sericulture boost
To promote rural livelihoods, Tasar silkworm rearing has been introduced at the village level for the first time in Kijümetouma Village under Kohima district on Tuesday. According to a DIPR report, the initiative currently involves ten beneficiaries from the village. On the occasion, District Sericulture Officer, Kohima, Vilhousienuo Khro, along with technical staff, supervised and assisted in the shifting of silkworms for outdoor rearing. The event marked an important milestone in expanding sericulture activities and creating sustainable income opportunities for local farmers, the report stated.
Niuland tree plantation competition
The Niuland district administration, in collaboration with the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP), declared the winners of the tree plantation competition held under the aegis of BBBP at Niuland on April 6 at the DC’s conference hall, Niuland. The event was chaired by Kelengunuo Solo, EAC Niuland, who highlighted the importance of environmental conservation and community involvement in such initiatives, a DIPR report stated. Sara S Jamir, Deputy Commissioner Niuland, delivered a short speech and declared the winners, emphasising the importance of environmental conservation and the role of youth in promoting sustainability. The winners of the competition were awarded and encouraged to continue their efforts in promoting sustainability and environmental awareness in their communities.
Mokokchung
Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma has informed all concerned members that the monthly District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting will be held on the April 14 at 11 am at the deputy commissioner’s conference hall, Mokokchung. The DC requested all members to attend the meeting positively, a DIPR report stated.
Palliative care training held in Tuensang
The Department of Health & Family Welfare, Tuensang, conducted district-level training on ‘palliative care’ for medical officers, nurses and pharmacists from different health units under Tuensang district, at the conference hall of District Hospital Tuensang on Tuesday. According to an update, the resource person for the training was SMO psychiatry Dr. Senilo Magh. Three sessions were held where the topics covered included introduction of palliative care, basics of pain, pain as fifth vital sign, classification of pain, features of neuropathic pain, components of pain, factors affecting pain perception, pain assessment, principles of drug therapy for cancer pain, interventions of pain management, breakthrough pain, management of nursing issues in palliative care, classification based on the actions on opioid receptions etc. A total of 10 participants attended the training, it stated.
NSCN condoles Zhimo’s demise
The collective leadership of the NSCN/GPRN (Reformation) has condoled the death of Shikiye (Stephen) Zhimo, the father Carlus Zhimo, kilo kilonser of the NSCN/GPRN . In a condolence message, the leadership shared the pain of the bereaved family over the irreparable loss of a great soul. “Death is a somber reminder that we are all travellers, travelling in God's given time. God sends us and is called back home in His time. There is no adequate words to express that could fill the void of the loss but it is our fervent prayer God grants courage, solace and divine comfort to the grieving families to endure through these difficult times,” the message read. DC Phek calls co-ordination meeting
In view of the proposed visit of the Governor of Nagaland Nand Kishore Yadav to Phek district on April 15, deputy commissioner of Phek has called for a co-ordination meeting with all heads of department and officers under Phck district on April 9 at 11 am at the DC’s conference hall. In this connection, Phek DC Rhosietho Nguori informed all the concerned members to attend the meeting positively.
