NFHRCC calls apex hohos meeting
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Foothills Road Co-ordination Committee (NFHRCC) has convened a joint meeting on May 19 at its base office, Kher Mahal, Dimapur, at 11 am, following the resolution adopted during the May 9 consultative meeting with Dimapur-based tribal hohos and core committee members. In a statement, the committee informed that all 15 Nagaland apex tribal hohos have been invited to attend the meeting in view of the April 14, 2026 resolution passed at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur, wherein the proposed public agitation was kept in abeyance at the request of the tribal bodies. The NFHRCC requested all concerned organisations and representatives to attend the meeting positively. Further, the committee reiterated its appeal to the Nagaland NPWD (R&B), stating that while awaiting official approval of any mega project from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), the proposed second-phase works should be issued transparently at the earliest through an open tender process without bias or favouritism, based on the administrative approval already accorded in 2024.
NSCN/GPRN (Niki) on Naga Plebiscite
The NSCN/GPRN (Niki) has asserted that the mandate of Naga Plebiscite of May 16, 1951, for independence of Naga nation is sacrosanct and that the present generation must translate words into actions. In a statement, the group stated that the Naga Plebiscite is also a declaration to the world that the Nagas are a sovereign and free people, and that they choose to remain as free people. “The Naga Plebiscite of 1951 stands as a defining moment in the history of the Naga people — a peaceful and democratic expression of the collective political will of the Nagas. Every Naga must uphold and honour what was exercised in 1951 — in letter and spirit,” it stated. “Everyone claims ownership of this golden legacy for self-aggrandisement but very few aspire to struggle towards our stated goals. It is our time to take actionable steps, so that the future generations can build on it.”

The VYO demanded that the identities of the accused persons be disclosed to the public in accordance with due legal procedure. It also called for a thorough, transparent, and impartial investigation to ensure that justice is delivered without delay. Further, the organisation urged the authorities to award stringent punishment to the accused under the relevant provisions of law and ensure that no undue leniency is shown during the course of judicial proceedings. The organisation warned that failure to ensure timely and satisfactory action in the matter may compel it to initiate further actions deemed necessary.
