Nagaland logs two new COVID cases
Nagaland detected two new COVID-19 positive cases in Dimapur district on Saturday making the state tally of active cases to 5. The daily bulletin issued by the department of Health and Family Welfare informed that three active cases were in Kohim and the two new detected case in Dimapur, which all were said to be mild cases. Currently, the state tally of COVID positive case stands at 36002, while those who recovered stands at 33698. Total COVID-19 death stands at 777, and non-COVID death was 5. (Our Correspondent)

Nagaland BJP president, Temjen Imna Along, informed that efforts were on to create world record with the maximum number of participants during the historic event of 100th episode of ‘Maan Ki Baat’ programme of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, which would be broadcast on April 30. In a circular, Nagaland BJP president stated that the historic event of 100th episode of 'Maan Ki Baat' would be conducted in every districts, mandals, and polling booths of the state. He added that all the elected BJP MLAs, MP, state office bearers, board chairmen, state morchas, state and district executive members have been requested to attend the programme in their respective constituencies.
DC Mokokchung issues travel advisory
Informing that a portion of deck slab on Dikhu bridge connecting Mokokchung to Noksen road in Tuensang via Longmisa village has been damaged, the deputy commissioner of Mokokchung, Shashank Pratap Singh, has restricted movement of heavy vehicles from April 29 to May 7 in order to facilitate necessary repairing work. The DC informed that only light vehicles carrying personal luggage would be allowed during the stipulated time. He has directed the EAC of Ongpangkong to coordinate and ensure that the restriction of movement of all heavy vehicles is adhered to. He further warned that non-compliance to the order would invite penal action as per the relevant section of the law.
PAC chairman convenes meeting
The advisor of Agriculture and chairman of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Mhathung Yanthan, has convened a PAC meeting on May 5 at 11 am in the committee room of the Assembly Secretariat. The chairman has requested all the concerned Committee members to attend the meeting.
Tovihoto inaugurates Netnyu community hall
Advisor of Tribal Affairs and Election, Tovihoto Ayemi, inaugurated the Netnyu community hall in Longleng district on Saturday as the special guest. Speaking on the occasion, Tovihoto reminded the gathering to keep faith in the government of the day and also their local MLA for development. He also urged everyone to maintain brotherhood and rise above narrow tribal lines and be proud to be Nagas. A short speech was also delivered by MLA, B Bangtick Phom, and EAC of Tamlu, Puhan Khiamniungan. The programme was chaired by former youth pastor of KBA, N Angla, while the dedicatory prayer was said by associate pastor of KBA, Longyau.
YMC organises social work
Sociology department of Yemhi Memorila College in Dimapur undertook cleanliness drive at District Hospital Dimapur on Saturday as part of departmental activity. An update from the college stated that around 15 students and 1 teacher along with the staff of District Hospital Dimapur conducted a social work in and around the hospital by picking up waste, cleaning the parking lot and flowers etc. The main motive behind the cleanliness drive was to make students aware and understand the significance of one’s contribution towards the community.
DTCC Mon conducts raid on tobacco products
The enforcement squad of district tobacco control cell (DTCC), Mon, under National Tobacco Control Programme, carried out surprise raid on sale of tobacco products near school areas on Saturday. The raid was conducted to strengthen COTPA (Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act) 2003 in the district. The team penalised 16 defaulters and seized tobacco products from the shops falling within the restricted areas. An update from DTCC Mon stated that the seized products were destroyed at the premises of Mon Police Station.
