Mega job fair in Dimapur on March 21
Dimapur, Mar. 19 (EMN): The Nagaland Skill & Entrepreneurship Development Mission (NSEDM), Investment Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), in collaboration with NIELIT, Kohima, will be organising a state-wide mega job fair on March 21 at the Integrated Business Hub and Innovation Centre (IBH&IC), Forest Colony, Dimapur, with the inaugural programme at 9.30 AM. According to a DIPR report, Chief Secretary Sentiyanger Imchen will attend the event as honoured guest.
DC Chümou says no LPG, fuel shortage
Deputy Commissioner of Chümoukedima, Polan John, has issued a public advisory informing that there is adequate availability of LPG and POL (Petroleum, Oil & Lubricants) products across all outlets in the district. The advisory stated that there is no cause for panic buying or hoarding, as the district administration is in close coordination with oil marketing companies and distributors to regularly monitor stock and availability. The public have been requested to refrain from believing or spreading unfounded rumours or speculations. The DC further warned that if any individual or entity is found indulging in illegal hoarding or the sale of LPG and POL products at exorbitant rates during inspections, strict penal action will be taken under the relevant provisions of law.
DMC informs on cleanliness drive
The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has informed all shopkeepers and business establishments located from Plaza Point to Nagarjan Junction that a cleanliness drive is organised in collaboration with the Nagaland Pollution Control Board, commissioner of police, and various NGOs on March 21 from 5 am to 9 am. In a circular, the DMC directed all shopkeepers and business establishments falling under the jurisdiction to keep their shops closed till the cleanliness drive is over.
Further, it requested all concerned under the said jurisdiction to clean their respective shops and join in the cleanliness drive.
Ethics committee meeting on March 23
MLA and chairperson of the Committee of Privileges and Ethics, Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), A Nyamnyei Konyak has convened an emergency meeting of the committee on March 23 at 12 noon at the C Chongshen committee room of the Assembly Secretariat, Kohima. All the members of the committee have been requested to attend the meeting as scheduled, a DIPR report stated.
Observers for Koridang bye-election
Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, has informed all concerned that the Election Commission of India has appointed observers for the bye-election to 28-Koridang AC to ensure smooth conduct of the bypoll in a free, fair, and peaceful manner. According to a DIPR report, the observers are Dr. Niraj Shukla, general observer (Contact No. 9862966114) and D Sreedhar Reddy, expenditure observer (Contact No. 9612797996). The observers will be available for interaction with political parties, contesting candidates and the public for redressal of grievances, clarification of doubts, and for lodging complaints, if any, from 10 am to 11 am at the Commissioner’s Guest House.
Career guidance held at Longleng
The Career Guidance and Counselling Cell of Yingli College, Longleng, organised a one-day career awareness guidance and counselling campaign on March 18 with Assistant Public Prosecutor H Donyei Phom as the resource person. Highlighting the gap that exists in the legal sphere, Phom spoke from his experience as a LLB graduate and the importance of pursuing law as a career, the college stated in an update. An alumnus of Yingli College, he encouraged the students to persevere, despite their current circumstances citing that success comes to those who never give up. Vice Principal of Yingli College, Dr. B Henshet Phom, delivered the welcome address and Dr. Mahabir Jha, convenor of Career Guidance and Counselling Cell, delivered the vote of thanks.
Idd namaj in Dimapur on March 20
The Id-ul-Fitre namaj will be held at Dimapur Iddgah prayer ground, Golaghat Road, Dimapur, on March 20 at 7.45 am. In a press release, the Iddgah Committee, Dimapur, stated that this year the Id-ul-Fitre prayer will be led by Maulana Haji Fauzail Ahmed Sb, Pesh Imam Iddgah Jame Masjid, Dimapur. The committee wished all a happy Idd and requested all to cooperate with the committee during the Idd prayer.
DIPR issues corrigendum
The DIPR has issued a corrigendum to the news item under the caption ‘TR Zeliang graces SDG Action Awards 2025’ published in ‘Naga News’ on March 13. According to the corrigendum, the name of awardees should read as ‘Pinnacle Skills’ and ‘Mobius Team Nagaland’ and not as published. The department regretted the “inconveniences caused.”
1 arrested for attempted murder
Dimapur Police have arrested a 25 year-old man identified as Kanoka Kits of Shena Old village and presently a resident of Electrical Colony, Dimapur, on charges of attempting to commit murder. According to a police report, the incident happened at Kuda-B Khel on the night of March 18. It stated that a case in this connection has been registered at East Police Station, Dimapur, and further investigation is on. In another incident, Dimapur Police arrested two persons for stealing electrical wires in a tunnel between Shokhuvi and Molvom. A case in this connection has been registered at Medziphema Police Station.
