ECI reviews SIR progress in Kohima
DIMAPUR — Secretary of the Election Commission of India (ECI), Binod Kumar, on Thursday reviewed the progress of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Photo Electoral Roll 2026 in Kohima district. Additional Chief Electoral Officer Awa Lorin and Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer, Kohima, B Henok Buchem, were also present at the review meeting, which was attended by EROs, AEROs and BLOs of the concerned polling stations, a DIPR report stated. Kumar urged officials to take the exercise seriously and put in their best efforts, stating that the SIR would have a generational impact on the State and the country. Discussing challenges at polling stations with low mapping, he directed officials to ensure that the distribution and collection of enumeration forms were completed well in advance to meet the stipulated timeline. He also advised EROs and AEROs to undertake field visits and address issues with BLOs in areas where SIR figures remain low.
Media, car passes for NLA session
The Directorate of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) has issued guidelines for the issuance of media and car passes to journalists covering the proceedings of the Ninth Session of the Fourteenth Nagaland Legislative Assembly, scheduled to commence on September 1 at the Assembly Hall in Kohima. Media and car passes will be issued only to bona fide working journalists from print, digital and electronic media organisations. Video clippings of the Assembly proceedings may be collected from the DIPR with due acknowledgement. Media organisations have been requested to submit the details of journalists seeking passes to iprnagaland@gmail.com on or before August 28. The submission should include the journalist’s name, designation, organisation and vehicle number. The DIPR stated that submissions received after the prescribed deadline will not be entertained.
SBI extends CSR support
The State Bank of India (SBI) donated executive office chairs to the Municipal Affairs Department, Kohima, on Thursday under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative for 2026-2027. Director, Municipal Affairs, Temjenrenla Kechu, acknowledged the gesture and expressed her gratitude to SBI, a DIPR report stated. They also discussed services provided by SBI, such as housing loans and other schemes, and agreed to collaborate and work together for the benefit of the general public. Kechu highlighted the importance of solar street lighting and waste disposal trucks around the towns and requested SBI to provide them under CSR, if possible, in the future. The handing over was undertaken by DGM (B&O), SBI Jorhat, Narendra Pratap Singh, along with officials from SBI, Director Temjenrenla Kechu and other officials from Municipal Affairs.
N-TET application deadline extended
The State Council of Educational & Research Training (SCERT) has issued a notification informing all concerned N-TET applicants that the last date for submitting N-TET online application has been extended to September 11, 2026.
NSCN (Niki) welcomes new members
The NSCN/GPRN (Niki) has welcomed functionaries and cadres from the NSCN (IM) Angami Region who recently joined the NSCN/GPRN. In a press release, the organisation identified the “home comers” as Keneilhoutuo Belho, under secretary; Petekhrielie Sachii, leacy; Zakamvu, leacy; Kikrupa, leacy; Lily, leacy; Khriesevilie Kelelie, leacy; and Avonuo Sogotsu, razou peyu. The organisation stated that their decision to join the national movement was driven by their commitment to and belief in the political ideology of the NSCN/GPRN (Niki), as well as their desire to further strengthen the cause of Naga sovereignty.
