Manuscript review meeting
Dimapur, Oct. 17 (EMN): A meeting of panel members and sub-committee members for review of the manuscript prepared by 14 tribal literature boards for the secondary section (beyond class VIII) will be held on October 18 at 11 am at SAMAGRA hall, directorate of School Education, Kohima. Principal Director of School Education, Thavaseelan K, requested all the panel members, sub-committee members and two panel members from 14 tribal languages to attend the meeting positively to forward the findings to the government for necessary action, a DIPR report stated.
Farmers meet to revitalise PDFU
Dimapur, Oct. 17 (EMN): Farmers of Phek district held a meeting on October 12 at Pfutsero to revitalise the Phek District Farmers Union (PDFU). The union in a press release stated that PDFU was one of the most active farmers’ groups in the state but had remained inactive for the last few years as the tenure of the executive committee expired and a new team had not been inducted. During the meeting, Dr. Sao Tunyi was selected as the president and Vesalu Puro as general secretary. The two were entrusted to coordinate with the farmers from all the blocks of the district to form a full-fledged PDFU executive committee and revitalise the activities of the union.
DTCC Tuensang anti-tobacco drive
Dimapur, Oct. 17 (EMN): The district tobacco control cell (DTCC), Tuensang, carried out raids against sale of tobacco products near educational institutions on October 12. An update informed that the team was led by district consultant, DTCC, Sentilong Longchar along with police personnel. The team penalised five persons and seized tobacco products, which were later destroyed at Tuensang police station. The team informed that such raids would be conducted frequently and cautioned shopkeepers to refrain from selling tobacco products within a radius of 100 metres from educational institutions under COTPA Act 2003 Section 6 (B).
NPAD office to close till Oct. 24
Dimapur, Oct. 17 (EMN): the Nagaland Pensioners Association Dimapur (NPAD) has informed that the office of NPAD will remain closed from October 17 to the 24th. The association in an update stated that the closure is in view of the order issued by the deputy commissioner, Dimapur, restricting vehicle movement in between Nagarajan Police Point and Walford due to proposed felling of trees from October 17 to the 24th.
Mokokchung DPDB meeting on Oct .20
Mokokchung, Oct. 17 (EMN): Deputy Commissioner and vice chairman, District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), Mokokchung, Sashank Pratap Singh, has informed DPDB meeting for the month of October will be held on October 20 at 11 am at DC conference hall. All the members have been requested to attend the meeting.
AR conducts lecture at Lephori village
Dimapur, Oct. 17 (EMN): Phek Battalion of Assam Rifles conducted a lecture on ‘Impediments and its resolutions for eradicating corruption at grass root level’’ and a medical camp at Lephori village, Phek district, on October 16. A defence release stated that the initiative to conduct the awareness campaign on corruption was taken up as a part of Vigilance Awareness Week. All the members of gram sabha of Lephori village alongwith 49 other villagers attended the event. During the medical camp, free essential medicines were also distributed to villagers. A total of 54 persons were treated in the camp, it stated.
CCPO elects new office bearers
Dimapur, Oct. 17 (EMN): The Centre Chakhesang Public Organisation (CCPO) at its general meeting on Monday at Sakraba town, elected new team of office bearers for the tenure 2022-2025. An update informed that the new team includes Shepo Hiesuh (president), Vesopa Nakro (vice president), Külüpoyi Vadeo (general secretary), Vezhosayi Lohe (joint secretary), Vekhoyi Lohe (finance secretary), Zalezo (treasurer). The advisors are Nehüsa Cükhamu, Küzoveyi Kezo and Vekhotso Lohe.
