DC Longleng issues travel advisory
DIMAPUR — Vehicular movement along the Changtongya-Longleng Road (NH-702) has been completely obstructed following a major landslide reported at Chainage 5+785 to 6+050. Deputy Commissioner, Longleng, W Manpai Phom, issued a circular advising commuters to take the alternate route via Tangha-Kangching-Merangkong Road, which is presently motorable for light vehicles only, until further orders. Heavy vehicles have been advised to refrain from using the said alternate route. Restoration and clearance operations are being undertaken on priority by the concerned authorities to restore normal vehicular connectivity at the earliest. All commuters have been requested to exercise due caution and strictly comply with the directions of the authorities and personnel deployed along the affected and alternate routes. The advisory shall remain in force until further orders.
ANSTA emergency meeting on TET
DIMAPUR — The All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA) will hold an emergency general meeting of all teachers appointed prior to August 2010 to discuss concerns arising from recent developments relating to the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) requirement for in-service teachers. The meeting, scheduled for September 18 at 11 am, will be held at the CANSSEA conference hall in Kohima, the ANSTA stated in an update. According to the association, the meeting will focus particularly on the concerns of teachers appointed before the implementation of the Right to Education (RTE) Act. It will provide an opportunity for affected teachers to present their concerns, views and grievances before the Association and collectively deliberate on the lawful and appropriate course of action available to the teaching community.
Meluri-Phek feeder shutdown
DIMAPUR — The 33 KV feeder from Meluri to Phek/Pfutsero will remain under shutdown from 9:30 am to 4 pm daily from September 16 to the 18th to facilitate vegetation and jungle-cutting works. In a circulation, the sub-divisional officer, Electrical Sub-Division, Phek, directed all field staff to carry out jungle-cutting activities in their respective areas of posting with the assistance of communitised members.

TVC honours 2 senior officials
KOHIMA — The Thenyizumi Village Council (TVC) felicitated Dr. Keveduyi Theyo, Principal Director of Health & Family Welfare Department, and Kenesa Dawhuo, Commandant of 10th NAP (IR) Battalion, Zhadima, at the village community hall on September 12. The felicitation programme was organised by the TVC to honour the two senior officials from the village for their services and achievements in their respective fields. Zacusa Thisa, VDB secretary, led the programme, while C Kroso Kezo, pastor, TBC, offered the invocation prayer. Zhothiyi Dawhuo, VCC, delivered the welcome note. Dr. Keveduyi Theyo and Kenesa Dawhuo also addressed the gathering. The conferring of blessings was led by Theduseyi Poru, catechist, TCC. Rev. Veshoseyi Rhakho, pastor, TCRC, offered the closing prayer.
New council team for Upper Agri
DIMAPUR — The Upper Agri Council, Ward-17, Kohima, has constituted a new council team for the tenure 2026-2029. According to an update issued by the council, the newly constituted team will be entrusted with the responsibility of guiding and coordinating the affairs of Upper Agri Colony and working towards the welfare, development and collective interests of the residents. The new council team comprises chairman Mhasisalie Solo, vice chairman Akum Jamir, general secretary Ngukavi Kinimi, joint secretary Anüsa Thisa, finance secretary Mhashan Patton and treasurer Wanmai Konyak. The newly constituted council is expected to work in close coordination with the various community bodies and residents of Upper Agri Colony, with a focus on strengthening community participation, maintaining civic responsibilities and promoting the overall development of the colony.
DPDB meetings scheduled for Zunheboto, Longleng
DIMAPUR — The monthly District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meetings in Zunheboto and Longleng have been scheduled for September 16 and 18, respectively. Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman of DPDB, Zunheboto, Dharam Raj, has informed that the monthly DPDB meeting will be held on September 16 at 11 am at the deputy commissioner’s conference hall. All concerned DPDB members have been requested to take note of the date and attend the meeting positively. Meanwhile, the Longleng DPDB meeting is scheduled for September 18 at 11 am at the DPDB hall, Longleng. The Department of Education (DEO/SDEO), Longleng, will present the department’s activities through a PowerPoint presentation.
