KU Tobu bans illegal tax collection
DIAMPUR — The Konyak Union (KU), Tobu unit, has resolved to take stern action against defaulters who violate the December 2, 2025, resolution passed by the KU unit along with all village councils and civil societies of Tobu Area. In a press release, the KU Tobu unit reminded the resolution prohibited all forms of illegal taxation within the jurisdiction of Tobu area. “The resolution clearly states that no factions, organisation, or individual shall collect taxes on development works, contractors, shops, or commercial vehicles,” it stated. The union cautioned that stern action will be taken against any defaulters found violating the directive, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, fairness, and the protection of public interest.
PDCCI warns action against Jio
The Phek District Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PDCCI) has raised serious concern over deteriorating telecom services in Phek town and nearby areas. In a press release, the chamber said the public, business community, and students now heavily rely on internet connectivity for daily activities, making reliable service essential. It noted that there has been no improvement in network services since February 2026, with persistent issues such as network fluctuations and frequent call drops causing major inconvenience. The PDCCI warned that if the situation does not improve, it will be compelled to take action against the service provider, Reliance Jio, including a possible lockdown of its local office. The chamber appealed to the concerned authorities for immediate intervention to restore stable and reliable telecom services in Phek at the earliest.
FGN welcomes NSCN-IM returnees
The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has welcomed functionaries from the NSCN IM Sumi Region who joined the FGN. A press release issued by Brig (Retd.) S Singnya, kedahge of FGN, stated that the “home comers” are I Khutovi Awomi (dy. kilonser ), Atuvi Chishi (dy. kilonser ), Khakheto Zhimo (It. Sec), Akahoto Awomi (tatar), Semato Awomi (tatar), Akito Achumi (dy. Kilonser), Kughalu Achumi (dy. kilonser), and Mughalu Aye (tatar).
Mokokchung NPF holds media orientation
The Naga People’s Front (NPF), Mokokchung division, organised an orientation on media awareness & strategic communication at the NPF Mokokchung division office on Saturday. The session was led by Dr. Limasenla Jamir, Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung, who served as the resource person and offered valuable insights on media awareness, responsible communication, and the role of digital engagement in shaping public perception, an update stated. The programme aimed to equip members with the knowledge and perspective needed to engage thoughtfully, communicate effectively, and uphold the values of the party. The programme was attended by party workers from various assembly constituencies under the district.
Nagaland Science Centre hosts road solutions contest
The Innovation Hub, Nagaland Science Centre, Department of Science and Technology, organised the 6th Innovative Science Working Model Competition at Innovation Hub, Nagaland Science Centre, Dimapur, on March 20. The theme of the exhibition was ‘Understanding the bad roads of Nagaland: the intervention with grassroots innovation to make it better and persistent,’ an update stated. Kevineizo Chakrüno, SDO, PWD (NH), attended the event as special guest and chief judge of the exhibition. Altogether 16 teams from schools across the districts of Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Wokha participated in the event. Santsuo School, Wokha, emerged as the winner, PM Shri GHS Thahekhu as the first runners-up, and Highland Hall Hr. Sec. School, Chümoukedima as the second runners-up. The winners received citations and cash prizes of INR 7000, 5000 and 3000, respectively.
