Kohima Municipal Council enforces import permit rule
DIMAPUR — The Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has directed transport vehicles entering its jurisdiction to obtain valid municipal import permits before supplying goods. In a circular, the CEO of KMC stated that several transport vehicles have been entering the municipal jurisdiction and supplying goods without obtaining the required import permits, thereby bypassing regulatory checks and trade monitoring. The council directed all concerned transporters not to enter KMC jurisdiction or supply goods without a valid KMC import permit. It warned that violations of the directive may result in denial of entry and appropriate action under applicable laws and municipal regulations.
EDTC imposes traffic restriction
The East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) has notified that heavy vehicles will not be allowed to ply on the road stretch from NH-29 Model Road to GMS School, Darogajan, from September 28 to October 15 in view of ongoing road construction work. In a press release, the EDTC directed heavy vehicle operators, transporters and vehicle owners to use the four-lane road as an alternative route. The restriction has been imposed to facilitate the smooth and uninterrupted execution of the construction work and ensure the safety of commuters, the general public and workers engaged in the project. For light and other vehicles, an alternative route has been suggested via Nitoke Tower Junction–Lane 6, Model Colony–Mount View Church Road–Hollohon Petrol Pump–NH-29. The public and all concerned have been requested to cooperate with the diversion and follow the designated alternative routes until October 15 or until further orders.
