KCCI warns traders against unauthorised tax payments

DIMAPUR — The Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has directed its members, commercial establishments and traders to adhere to the Angami Public Organisation’s (APO) 1993 resolution of “One Government, One Tax” amid concerns over multiple tax demands. The directive was issued following representations from the business community regarding the prevalence of multiple tax demands. A consultative meeting between the KCCI and APO was held on September 23, following which the chamber formally adopted the 1993 APO resolution. The resolution states that no entity should pay tax within its jurisdiction, according to the KCCI. The chamber urged all affiliated trade sections, market committees and commercial operators to ensure uniform implementation of the directive across commercial establishments and markets. It further stated that businesses paying unauthorised taxes contrary to the resolution would do so at their own risk. In cases of force or coercion by tax collectors, members have been advised to direct the demanding parties to the APO office.

Zunheboto prepares for Governor’s visit

A consultative meeting and briefing of Heads of Officers (HoOs) was held at the DC’s conference hall, Zunheboto, on Saturday, in preparation for the visit of Governor Nand Kishor Yadav to Zunheboto on September 28. According to a DIPR report, the meeting was convened pursuant to a communication from the Governor’s Secretariat regarding Yadav’s scheduled visit to the district. The meeting brought together heads of officers and concerned officials to discuss necessary arrangements, coordination and preparations for the Governor’s visit. During the consultative meeting, Dharam Raj, Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto, briefed the officials on the requirements and responsibilities pertaining to the upcoming visit.

Pungro hosts meat safety seminar

A seminar on source segregation, better management, slaughter practices and meat handling for butchers was organised by the North East Initiative Development Agency (NEIDA) in collaboration with the district administration and Pungro Town Council at Badminton Stadium, Pungro, on September 25. According to a DIPR report, the programme was chaired by Cluster Manager, NEIDA, Lakhum. Prevention of African swine fever, clean and hygiene practices in slaughter and pork retail operations were presented by Longso, NEIDA. Alimsula, VFA, pdisseminated information on disease surveillance, timely vaccination, its early detection and reporting, active herd monitoring, zoning and movement controls. The seminar also provided time for discussion and sharing among local butchers. Segregating waste into wet waste, dry waste, sanitary waste and special care waste to improve recycling, protect workers and reduce landfill waste was shared by Belenso T Yimkhiung, MIS, PTC, followed by the Swachhata Hi Seva pledge by the participants.
