  • IMFL consignment destroyed in Wokha

  • DIMAPUR — A large consignment of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) was destroyed in Wokha on May 17, in compliance with legal directives. According to a DIPR report, the destruction was carried out in the presence of members of the destruction committee, led by APP Wokha, Renbemo Tungoe, along with SDPO Benrithung, SDO (C) Echungbemo Erui, Prosecuting Inspector, and EAC (P). The seized liquor was destroyed as part of enforcement measures and included brands/labels such as Bacardi Black, Blenders Pride, Iconic Whisky, Magic Moment, Signature, Old Monk, Royal Stag, MC Run, MC Luxury, Kingfisher Beer, Budweiser, Breezer, and AC Black Whisky. These consignments were confiscated on multiple occasions within Wokha district in accordance with regulatory actions.

  • Startup Nagaland, PMFME discussed in Kiphire

  • DIMAPUR — A one-day awareness programme on Startup Nagaland and the Prime Minister's Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme was held at the District Industries Centre (DIC), Kiphire, on May 16. A DIPR report stated that the resource persons were Veswuvo Phesao, functional manager, DIC Kiphire, and Tsaziba Y Sangtam, project associate, RAMP, Kiphire. The highlights of the programme included financial assistance, eligibility, One District One Product, support service, and an interactive session. It was organised by the Department of Industries and Commerce.

  • Dimapur Police recovers unidentified male body

  • DIMAPUR —  Dimapur Police recovered the body of a non-Naga male on May 18 from opposite the Gurudwara Sahib, Dimapur. An update from the police stated that at around 7:40 pm, information was received at Sub-Urban Police that an unidentified dead body was lying at the roadside opposite the Gurudwara. Personnel on duty rushed to the scene, and an inquest was conducted on the body. No visible injury marks were found on the deceased, nor was any foul play suspected. It was further learnt that the deceased was a homeless person and belonged to the Hindu community. After completing all legal formalities, the body was shifted to the District Hospital Dimapur morgue for post-mortem examination and identification. Claimants, relatives, or friends of the deceased have been requested to contact the officer-in-charge, Sub-Urban Police Station, Dimapur, at 7085055026.

  • Week-long tree plantation drive begins in Zhadima

  • DIMAPUR — The 78 Battalion Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), in collaboration with the Kohima Forest Division, commenced a week-long tree plantation drive on Monday at Zhadima village. According to an update, personnel of 78 Bn CRPF, along with seven Forest department officials, under the supervision of the commandant of 78 Bn CRPF, Zubza, kicked off the week-long programme at the JICA site, Zhadima.

  • RALOA executive meeting on May 24

  • DIMAPUR — The Railway Affected Landowners' Association (RALOA) has scheduled an executive meeting to address various issues facing the association and to set a clear road map for future action. According to an update, the advisors, office bearers, and all executive members are instructed to attend the meeting without fail. It will be held on May 24 at 5 pm in the Hotel Jal Mahal Conference Hall (opposite Tourist Lodge, Dimapur).

  • NNC Ao Region marks 75th plebiscite anniversary

  • DIMAPUR — Members of the Naga National Council (NNC) Ao Region gathered on May 16 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the historic plebiscite conducted by the people. According to an update, it was held at Yimyu (Khensa), and the NNC Ao Region honoured all those who sacrificed their lives for the Naga freedom movement. As the Nagas enter the 76th year since the historic plebiscite, prayers were offered for God's guidance to lead them into this new phase of their journey. The commemoration concluded with a feast at Alichen (Longkhum).
