NU to host conference on food security


DIMAPUR — The Genetics and Plant Breeding department of School of Agricultural Sciences, Nagaland University, Medziphema campus, will organise a national conference on "Harnessing genetic resources for food security: Innovations in conservation and utilisation for sustainable crop and livestock improvement in the northeast region" on November 17 and 18 on hybrid mode. The conference is being held in collaboration with ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun (ICAR-NRCM), Medziphema, Chümoukedima district. An update from the university stated that Prof. NC Talukdar, vice chancellor of Down Town University, Guwahati, and Dr. AK Pattanayak, former director of the Indian Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology, Ranchi, would attend the conference as the speakers.

WDCCI membership registration from November 17


DIMAPUR — The Wokha District Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WDCCI) has announced that membership registration for the year 2025–26 will be conducted from November 17 to the 22nd, between 10 am and 4 pm at its office chamber, opposite NSCB Ltd, Tsumang ‘A’ Colony, Wokha town. Icaisuile receives ‘Progressive Fish Farmer’ award


DIMAPUR — Icaisuile from Peren district, Nagaland, who has taken up fish farming as a livelihood, was felicitated at the Fish Farmer's Conclave during World Fisheries India 2025 (WAI 2025) in Hyderabad, held November 11 and the 12th.  She received the ‘Progressive Fish Farmer’ award from the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Dept of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Govt of India, for driving community growth through fish farming and her outstanding contribution to the fisheries sector, a DIPR report stated.
