Traffic advisory issued over Dzuma River bridge washout
DIMAPUR — The temporary bridge over the Dzuma River between Jharanipani and Molvom on the Peren road was washed away following incessant rainfall and subsequent flooding, Dimapur Commissioner of Police Aotula T Imchen, stated in a traffic advisory issued on August 25. According to the traffic advisory, vehicle movement along the route has been restricted with immediate effect in the interest of public safety. The restriction will remain in place until further notice.
60 legislators to meet August 31
The traditional meeting of all 60 legislators of the 14th House will be held on August 31 at 3:30 pm at the Chief Minister’s Residential Complex, Kohima, in view of the 9th Session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly, summoned from September 1. According to a DIPR report, all legislators have been requested to attend the meeting as desired by the Leader of the House. In a separate notification, the traditional meeting of the NPF Legislature Party will also be held on August 31 at 2:30 pm at the Chief Minister’s Residential Complex. All members of the NPF Legislature Party have been requested to attend the meeting.
Car passes for NLA session
The Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) Secretariat has notified that car passes and official gallery passes for the Ninth Session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly, beginning September 1, will be issued on August 29 and the 31st during regular office hours. All ministers, advisors and AHODs may collect car passes and gallery passes from the special secretary (Home), Civil Secretariat, Kohima. All MLAs and PS/PA to the members are to collect car passes from the reception counter, Gate No-II, NLA Secretariat. All HODs, IPR and media persons are to collect their car passes from the reception counter, Gate No-I, NLA Secretariat.
Patton mourns Dr. Toiho’s demise
Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton has expressed sorrow over the untimely demise of Dr. Toiho Sema, senior technical assistant in the Department of Geography at Nagaland University. In a condolence message, Patton said that Dr. Toiho was the husband of Kahuli Sema, non-official director on the Board of Engineers India Limited, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. The deputy CM conveyed his sympathies to Kahuli Sema and the bereaved family members during the period of grief. He stated that the passing of Dr. Toiho is a painful loss for the university community, relatives and all who knew him.
IAF to hold recruitment rally
The Indian Air Force (IAF) will conduct an open recruitment rally for Agniveervayu Intake 01/2027 from August 31 to September 6 at the Nagaland Armed Police Training Centre (NAPTC), Chümoukedima. According to a DIPR report, the recruitment rally is being conducted as per Advertisement No. Agniveervayu Intake 01/2027 dated June 13, 2026, issued by the IAF. Medical camp at Medziphema
A free medical camp was conducted at Medziphema Town Council Hall, Medziphema, on August 26, with more than 100 patients receiving free medical consultations and medicines. The camp was voluntarily organised by three doctors, namely Dr. MK Varechon, medicine, Star Clinic, Chümoukedima; Dr. Kavito Sumi, paediatrician, RK Clinic, 6th Mile, Chümoukedima; and Dr. Hoboto Chishi, general physician, Noble Care Clinic, Chümoukedima. According to a DIPR report, the camp aimed to make free medical consultations accessible to the public and raise awareness about the importance of regular health check-ups. The camp was conducted with the message "Good heath, better life." More than 100 patients attended the camp and received free medical consultations. Free medicines were also provided as part of the initiative.
Kiphire reviews waste management
A meeting of all concerned members was held at DPDB Hall, Kiphire, on Thursday to deliberate on matters relating to the implementation of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, and monitor the Key Project Indicators (KPI) in compliance with Supreme Court Civil Appeal No. 6174/2023. According to a DIPR report, Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire Temsuwati Longkumer chaired the meeting. All concerned members attended the meeting with their respective reports, status updates and other relevant information and documents pertaining to solid waste management for detailed deliberation and necessary course of action.
