NHHDC to organise handicraft exhibition
Dimapur, Sep. 23 (EMN): Nagaland Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation (NHHDC) will be organising a handicraft exhibition at Urban Haat in Dimapur from October 7 to 13th. The exhibition is being sponsored by office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, government of India. The managing director, Zakabo V Rotokha has asked interested artisans holding artisans ID card issued by the office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) to apply at its Project Cell at Half Nagarjan (Kuda), Dimapur, on or before October 3.
CTYO seizes expired items
Dimapur, Sep. 23 (EMN): Basing on numerous complaints received from residents, the Chümoukedima Town Youth Organisation (CTYO) conducted a surprise checking on September 20 and seized huge quantity of expired food items, dairy products, household items in Chümoukedima town. An update from CTYO stated that defaulters were penalised with a strong warning not to repeat such activities in future. Informing that CTYO would conduct such checking in future, it urged all the concerned shopkeepers to ensure that their inventory are clear of expired goods at all time. It further stated that seized items were destroyed.
IRCSN to hold annual general meeting
Dimapur, Sep. 23 (EMN): Nagaland unit of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCSN) will hold its 35th annual general meeting on September 26 and 27 in its conference hall in Kohima. The business session would be conducted on September 26, where deputy commissioners and representative from all the district branches would participate. The ceremonial function would be held on September 27 at 11 am in Imkongliba Hall at Raj Bhavan, where the Governor and the chief minister would address the gathering. All founding members, patrons, vice patrons, life members, and well-wishers are invited to the programme.
Fire safety inspection in Peren
Dimapur, Sep. 23 (EMN): The deputy commissioner of Peren, Vineet Kumar, informed all government offices, schools and colleges, churches, private buildings and markets under Peren district that the Nagaland Fire and Emergency Services would conduct fire safety inspection from September 21 to October 5 as per National Building Code part IV 2016 to avoid fire hazards and incidents. He has requested all the concerned to extend cooperation during the inspection.
BJP minority morcha undertakes plantation drive
Dimapur, Sep. 23 (EMN): As part of ‘Seva Pakhwada’ (service fortnight), Nagaland BJP minority morcha along with district units undertook tree plantation and water body cleaning drive on September 22. The morcha planted trees near Dimapur Sports Stadium under the leadership of its president, Deep Kumar. An update from BJP minority morcha stated that over 100 tree saplings were planted. It added that the morcha has identified several water bodies in Dimapur for cleaning. The morcha also conveyed good wishes to H Tovihoto Ayemi, advisor of Power department, on his birthday.
Power shutdown in Dimapur
Dimapur, Sep. 23 (EMN): In view of dismantling and shifting of old existing electrical lines to the newly constructed 11 kV trunk line in Dimapur town area, the Power department will initiate power shutdown from September 24 to October 10 between 3 am and 9 am. The executive engineer of Dimapur electrical division, Y Akito Sema, has requested all the consumers to bear with the inconveniences.
WDWSA convenes meeting
Dimapur, Sep. 23 (EMN): The Wokha District Womens Sports Association (WDWSA) has convened a meeting on September 24 at the Pensioners office in Wokha town at 11 am. The association president, Yanbeno Jungio, and the general secretary, Rachel Ngullie, have requested all the office bearers and various committee members to attend the meeting.
Orientation on Mission Parivaar Vikas held in Longleng
Dimapur, Sep. 23 (EMN): A one-day orientation on Mission Parivaar Vikas for DCM, BAC and BPM was conducted in the conference hall of the CMO’s office on September 23 in the presence of CMO, Longleng, Dr. Obangjungla. Dr. Imnameren Phom, DIO (RCH/UIP), and Viroli Sangtam, NHM district programme manager, were the resource persons. The participants were oriented on the family planning demand generation and how to mobilise the beneficiary to enable them better access to family planning methods. Viroli Sangtam highlighted the supply chain management of FPLMIS and the encouraged the participants for better results.
Three arrested with opium
Dimapur, Sep. 23 (EMN): Nagaland Police personnel of Narcotic Cell Police Station (PHq), during surprise MVCP on NH-2 on September 22 at around 9 am, intercepted one Mahindra Scorpio bearing registration no. ASO2AA/ 2619 near Viswema Y Junction along Pfutsero-Imphal road and recover 10 packets containing 9 kg of suspected opium. The Nagaon-bound vehicle was coming from Imphal via Kohima. Police stated that the driver of the vehicle along with two occupants identified as Ameer Khan (29), resident of Raat in Himachal Pradesh, and Iman Ali (49) and Ramjan Ali (20), both resident of Harmati in Nowgaon, Assam, were arrested. It stated case has been registered for further investigation.
CYF lauds DEF Phek
Dimapur, Sep. 23 (EMN): Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) has appreciated the DEF Phek for their continued efforts in checking the illegal imports and trafficking of drugs and alcohol within its jurisdiction. CYF has specifically mentioned on the recent raid conducted on September 17 resulting in the arrest of law breakers and recovered 5574 tablets of Sampex (Spasmo) and 270 bottles of MC Rum from various locations in Phek town. CYF has requested all law abiding citizens to be model citizens and report such known illegal activities within Chakhesang jurisdiction so as to help law enforcement agencies to better serve the community.
