Deputy CM Patton welcomes 8 Meghalaya MLAs into BJP

DIMAPUR — Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister and BJP Legislature Party Leader Y Patton has congratulated and welcomed eight MLAs from the United Democratic Party (UDP), Meghalaya, who joined the BJP at the party headquarters in New Delhi on September 23. The legislators joined the BJP in the presence of Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, BJP National President Nitin Nabin, National Spokesperson Dr Sambit Patra, National Secretary Anil K Antony and Meghalaya BJP State President Rikman G Momin, among others. In a statement, Patton welcomed the legislators into the BJP and expressed confidence that their experience and commitment would contribute to public service and the welfare and development of Meghalaya and the North-East. With the induction of the eight MLAs, the BJP’s strength in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly has risen from two to 10, making it the second-largest party in the House. Patton described the development as a significant political development for Meghalaya and expressed confidence that the legislators would contribute to the party’s collective efforts under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

Zunheboto releases District Action Plan for Reform Utsav

Deputy Commissioner of Zunheboto, Dharam Raj, released the District Action Plan for Reform Utsav in Zunheboto on Thursday. The plan aims to create public awareness, promote inclusive participation of village councils, wards and marginalised communities, and drive reforms through four stages—Jan Manthan (Discover), Vimarsh (Deliberate), Jan Samadhan (Deliver) and Sankalp Siddhi (Celebrate), an official bulletin stated.  The roadmap will be implemented in three phases. Phase I, covering August and September 2026, focuses on preparation, sensitisation and awareness campaigns. Phase II, from October to December, will involve mass outreach, collection of suggestions, departmental reviews and implementation of quick-win and medium-term reforms. The phase will culminate in events scheduled from December 25 to 27. Phase III, beginning December 28, will focus on continuous monitoring and the submission of Action Taken Reports to sustain the reforms. The Deputy Commissioner will oversee real-time updates on the portal and overall monitoring of the action plan. The initiative is aligned with the objectives of Viksit Nagaland and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
