DC Mokokchung orders firearms check before Koridang by-election
DIMAPUR — The Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer of Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, has issued an order mandating physical verification of all firearms and ammunition in Mokokchung district ahead of the bye-election to the 28-Koridang Assembly Constituency. Invoking Section 21 of the Arms Act, 1959, Verma directed all arms licence holders under Mokokchung district to report to their nearest concerned police station, a DIPR report stated. Licence holders have been asked to present their arms and ammunition along with their licence booklets for physical verification during office hours. The deadline for compliance is March 20. Officers-in-charge of the concerned police stations have been directed to furnish daily reports in the prescribed format through the senior superintendent of police, Mokokchung. The reports will include the serial number, licence holder’s name, licence number, UIN number, type of arms and number, last renewal date, and number of ammunition available.
Legislators’ meeting preponed to February 28 ahead of NLA session
Minister of Parliamentary Affairs KG Kenye has convened a legislators’ meeting in view of the 8th session of the fourteenth Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) being summoned from March 2 onward. The minister informed that a traditional meeting of all the 60 legislators of the 14th House, which is normally held on the eve of the first day of the session, has been preponed to February 28 at the Chief Minister’s Residential Complex, Kohima, at 12 noon on account of March 1 falling on a Sunday. All the members of the 14th House of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly have been requested to attend the meeting positively.
In a separate notification, the minister also informed that the traditional meeting of the NPF Legislatures Party, which is normally held on the eve of the first day of the session, has been preponed to February 28 at the Chief Minister’s Residential Complex, Kohima, at 11 am.
NEPED, NEC to host eco-tourism workshop in Kohima from February 25
The Nagaland Empowerment of People through Economic Development (NEPED), in collaboration with the North Eastern Council (NEC), will be organising a two-day state level workshop on "Empowering communities through eco-tourism: Conservation, livelihood and sustainable development" on February 25 and the 26th at the Capital Convention Centre, Kohima.
Car, gallery passes for NLA session
The Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat has informed that in view of the Eighth Session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly scheduled to commence from March 2, car passes and official gallery passes will be issued from February 26 to the 28th during regular office hours. All ministers, advisors and AHoDs may collect car passes and gallery passes from the special secretary (Home), Civil Secretariat, Kohima. All MLAs, PS/PA to the members are to collect car passes from the reception counter Gate No-II, NLA Secretariat. All HoDs, IPR and media persons are to collect their car passes from the reception counter, Gate No-I, NLA Secretariat.
