Nagaland Transport officials meet Air India Express heads
DIMAPUR — Commissioner & Secretary of Transport Department, Robert Longchari, accompanied by M Ababe Ezung, OSD Transport, paid a visit to the Air India Express office in Gurugram, Haryana, on Tuesday. According to a DIPR report, the two state officials held a productive meeting with Air India Express Managing Director Alok Singh and Vice President Shashi Chetia. During the meeting, the Nagaland officials expressed their gratitude to Air India Express for continuing flight operations to Dimapur. They also appreciated Air India Express's acceptance to partner with the state for the Hornbill Festival, a significant cultural event that promotes tourism and showcases Nagaland's rich heritage. The officials requested Air India Express to consider hiring more Naga youths in various job openings, further strengthening the partnership between the state and the airline. Additionally, they discussed potential opportunities for collaboration in areas such as tourism promotion and creating jobs.
EDTC notifies traders, institutions
DIMAPUR — The East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) has directed all business establishment, institutions and banks within its jurisdiction to complete their Christmas decorations by November 30. Informing that this year’s officials colour theme is ‘gold,’ representing light, prosperity and celebration, it encouraged all concerned to use gold coloured lights and decorative elements to maintain a uniform and festive appearance throughout East Dimapur town. It informed that the council would conduct inspection drives after the deadline to ensure compliance and warned that failure to adhere to the directive would invite necessary action. It further urged every establishment to actively participate in making the town vibrant and welcome the Christmas season through collective effort and community spirit.

NSVDBA condemns threats, abduction
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland State VDB Association (NSVDBA) has condemned the alleged threat to the chairman of Thonoknyu Village Council and abduction of VDB secretary by armed miscreants on October 30. In a press release, the association condemned the act as a serious threat to peace, security, and democratic village functioning. It highlighted that village functionaries, particularly VDB secretaries, face constant threats despite working for the welfare and development of the grassroots community. The NSVDBA demanded that law enforcement authorities take swift and decisive action against those responsible. The association further appealed to all law-abiding citizens to support peace, unity, and the safety of grassroots institutions.
DUCCF backs pen-down strike
DIMAPUR — The Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) has extended solidarity to the ongoing pen-down strike by government service associations, acknowledging the genuine grievances and long-standing issues faced by the employees. In a statement, the federation also expressed deep concern over the prolonged disruption of essential services, which has caused inconvenience to citizens, students, and the general public. The federation urged both the state government and the service associations to engage in constructive dialogue and reach an amicable and timely resolution. “DUCCF firmly believes that mutual understanding and transparent communication are the most effective means to restore normalcy and uphold the interests of both public servants and the people they serve,” it stated.
District-level essay competition held at GHSS Shamator
DIMAPUR — In commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a district-level essay competition was held at Government Higher Secondary School, Shamator, on Tuesday. Athsangla Wongcham from St. Xavier School Shamator emerged as the winner, while Tsuvichen of GHS Shamator and Hanshito L of St. Xavier School were declared first and second runners-up, respectively, a DIPR report stated. Kongkhao Khiamniungan, principal of GHSS Shamator, thanked all the participants and teachers for making the competition a success.
