Dimapur police declare Red Zones for Independence Day
DIMAPUR — The Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, has temporarily declared areas within a two-kilometre radius of key grounds in Dimapur, Chümoukedima, and Niuland as "Red Zones" (no-fly zones) for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations. According to an order issued by Commissioner of Police Aotula T Imchen, the restriction will be in effect from 2 am to 6 pm on August 15. The locations designated as Red Zones are the Dimapur DDSC Stadium, Chümoukedima Samaguting Stadium, and Niuland Public Ground. The order, issued in exercise of powers conferred under Rule 24 of the Drone Rules, 2021, prohibits any person from operating a drone or remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) within these zones without prior permission from the competent authority.
Tourism department holds meeting with hospitality stakeholders
A coordination meeting was convened on Wednesday between the Department of Tourism and stakeholders from various sectors of the tourism and hospitality industry. According to an update, the conference was chaired by Addl. Director T Kakihe Sumi in the presence of Commissioner & Secretary Kovi Meyase, Tourism and Nagaland Empowerment of People through Energy Development, during which several key issues were discussed. The meeting was attended by members from the Nagaland Hotels & Restaurants Association (NHRA), Kohima Hotels & Restaurants Union (KHRU), and representatives from registered homestays. Key areas of discussion included promoting rural tourism and tourist-influenced areas; website management; coordination and facilitation regarding the Protected Area Permit; development of standard operating procedures for such queries and tourist cases, capacity building, adherence to guidelines, and other concerns relating to the tourism and hospitality sector.
Pungro town conducts mass social work drive
A mass social work drive was conducted across Pungro town on Wednesday in view of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations. According to a DIPR report, the cleanliness drive was carried out following directives issued by the office of the additional deputy commissioner of Pungro. Starting from 6 am, administrative officials, government employees, and the general public participated in the mass social work to make Pungro town cleaner and greener. All shops remained closed during the social work drive.
Yongshei Baptist Church conducts Vacation Bible School
Yongshei Baptist Church, Longleng, conducted a 10-day Vacation Bible School from July 17 to the 26th on the theme “Under his wings”, based on Psalms 91:4. According to an update, the theme was chosen to teach children about God’s protection, love, and faithfulness. The resource person was H Hammei Buchemhu, Director of Vacation Bible School Ministry, Northeast India, Dimapur. The Senior class won the 'day of cleanliness', while the Intermediate class won the 'day of inspection'. The overall champion title went to the Junior class. A total of 185 children aged 3 to 17 years participated, guided by 13 teachers.
