AR firing practice in Mon from March 16
DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner of Mon Wennyei Konyak has informed that the 42 Assam Rifles will be conducting firing and explosive practice at the unit firing range, tactical headquarters Mon, from March 16 to the 31st , from 7 am to 7 pm. According to a DIPR report, during the period, loud sound of firing and explosion may be heard in and around Mon town and adjoining areas. In this regard, “the public is advised not to panic, as it is part of the routine training for the Assam Rifles.” Further, residents have also been advised to avoid movement in the vicinity of the firing range or camp during the above mentioned period and to ensure the safety of children and livestock.
CTSU elects new office bearers
The Chümoukedima Town Students’ Union (CTSU) has announced its new office bearers for the 2026–2028 tenure. The newly elected executive body is led by president Kevipele Keyho, along with general secretary Khriezolie Yano and 16 other members. The installation programme was attended by former CTSU president Hovise Naleo, who delivered the exhortation and message. Representatives from Chümoukedima Town Angamimia Mechü Krotho, Chümoukedima Town Women Organisation, and Chümoukedima Town Youth Organisation were also present. The newly elected student body was prayed for and blessed by Pezato Metha (home visiting pastor, TBCC). Outgoing president Zakietuo Shüya reflected on his experiences during his tenure and encouraged the new team, while the newly elected president pledged to work for the welfare of the student community and the uplift of society.
NSCN (IM) disowns ex-cadre in arson case
The NSCN (IM) has clarified the arrest of Ramayo Vashum by the Senapati Police in connection with the TMT-laden truck arson incident at Kabinam village in Senapati district along NH-2. In a press release, the MIP NSCN (IM) stated that Ramayo Vashum was formerly a “Major in the Naga Army” but was given a forced retirement in 2022 due to misconduct unbecoming of his position. “We regret his involvement in such anti-social activities. The incident is entirely his personal action and has no connection whatsoever with our organisation and government,” the release stated.
GPRN/NSCN (U) suspends kilonser
The GPRN/NSCN (Unification) has placed kilonser Solomon R under indefinite suspension from his position and responsibilities with immediate effect from March 13. In a press release, the GPRN/NSCN (U) stated that the action has been necessitated on account of his serious breach of established party discipline and conduct, particularly in contravention of the provisions in the organisation’s disciplinary framework.
Furthermore, Solomon R has been instructed to return and surrender any government or organisational property, documents, materials, or assets that may have been entitled to him by virtue of his office, within three days from the date of issuance of the order.
PM-KISAN 22nd instalment event held at Medziphema
A programme for the release of the 22nd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi was held at ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun, Medziphema. According to an update, a total of 52 farmers participated in the programme, including 47 women and five men. Before the start of the programme, the participants were briefed about the credit of the 22nd instalment of PM-KISAN and the benefits provided to farmers under the scheme. During the programme, pig feed was distributed to 50 farmers to support their livestock-based livelihood activities. The programme was conducted in the presence of Dr. Girish Patil S, Director of ICAR-NRC on Mithun. Apart from this, an interactive discussion session was also held where farmers shared the problems faced in livestock farming. The issues raised by the farmers were discussed and addressed by the scientists and officials present.
