CM Rio condoles Khrishna Biswas’ passing
DIMAPUR — Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has condoled the demise of Khrishna Biswas, wife of NC Biswas, who passed away on Monday. In a condolence message, the chief minister stated that late Biswas was “the epitome of a caring, supportive, and devoted wife and mother, whose warmth and compassion touched all who knew her.” “I had the privilege of working closely with her husband, and through our interactions, I came to know her as a gentle and kind-hearted person, deeply dedicated to her family. Her absence leaves an irreplaceable void, yet her life remains an inspiration to many,” the message read.
ASF detected in Kohima village
DIMAPUR — In view of the reported cases of detection of African Swine Fever (ASF) at P Khel, Kohima village, Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B Henok Buchem, in an order, has notified areas as infected zones and surveillance zones for control and containment of the ASF disease. P Khel, Kohima village (I km radius of infected premises) comes under infected zone while surveillance zone extends 10 km radius from the infected premises (9 km radius outside the infected zone). Ban on slaughter of pigs, ban on import and export of pigs and piglets and ban on transportation of pigs and pork, have been banned in the two zones.

Coordination meeting held in Niuland
DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner of Niuland, Sara S Jamir, held a co-ordination meeting with the Western Sumi Kukami Hoho, Niuland District GB Association and Aghunaqa Area GB Association, DC office on Monday. According to a DIPR report, the meeting was held in connection with eviction of Jalal village and recent eviction drive carried out by Assam government in Disturbed Area Belt (DAB) area between Gologhat district of Assam and Niuland district of Nagaland.
Ao Milen flays attack on TV reporter
DIMAPUR — Mokokchung-based vernacular newspaper Ao Milen has condemned the recent shooting of a journalist from Nagaland’s Hornbill TV during the Zinnia Flower Festival at Laii village, Senapati district, Manipur, on August 30. “Ao Milen strongly condemns this inhumane and barbaric attack. At a time when journalists strive to uphold truth in the face of challenges, it is deeply disturbing that their efforts are undermined by threats, intimidation, and violence. Such actions strike at the very foundation of democracy,” the paper stated in a press release. It also called upon the government and law enforcement agencies to ensure that justice is delivered swiftly and fairly.

ZBN, ANGSU congratulates Heraang
DIMAPUR — The Zeliangrong Baudi Nagaland (ZBN) and All Nagaland Gorkha Students Union (ANGSU) have congratulated Mteisuding Heraang on being elected as the new president of the Naga Students Federation (NSF). In a press release, the ZBN stated, “The news has gladden our people because, in such a time when the Nagas need our people's leading in the right direction for better hope for the Naga future, God elect and appointed you in His time for the good of Zeliangrong people and the Nagas in general.” In a separate statement, the ANGSU stated that it looks forward to working with the new president and his team, and assured full cooperation in all the endeavours of NSF.
