FNR-RRaD raises concern over Nagaland House incident

DIMAPUR — The Forum for Naga Reconciliation - Recover, Restore and Decolonise (FNR-RRaD) has expressed concern over an alleged incident involving staff of Nagaland House in RK Puram, New Delhi, on September 15, following a public screening of the documentary film ‘A Sacred Place’ by Prof. Dolly Kikon. The event, organised by the Naga Scholars’ Association (NSA) at the conference hall of Nagaland House, featured a screening of the documentary followed by a dialogue between the filmmaker and young students and scholars. In a statement, the FNR-RRaD alleged that following the event, staff of Nagaland House subjected Prof. Kikon, Prof. Sanjay Barbora and others accompanying them to “disrespect, prejudice, humiliation and intimidation.” The organisation described the alleged conduct as an abuse of power and authority and said it was “deeply troubled and concerned” by the incident.

The FNR-RRaD expressed solidarity with Prof. Kikon and Prof. Barbora, professors at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and extended its support to the NSA in pursuing the matter with the relevant authorities.

Chümoukedima bans waste dumping

DIMAPUR — The Deputy Commissioner of Chümoukedima, Polan John, has issued an order enforcing the provisions of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, as part of a drive to curb pollution of rivers and water bodies caused by municipal and solid waste in the district. According to a DIPR report, the order informed all citizens under Chümoukedima district that dumping solid waste into rivers, streams, open drains or water bodies is strictly prohibited. Any person found violating the instructions shall be liable for penal action as per the relevant provisions of the law.
