Ban on pig trade in Merapani lifted
DIMAPUR — The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Bhandari, Longasen Lotha, has lifted the ban on the slaughtering, import, export, and transport of pigs, piglets, and pork from Merapani. According to a DIPR report, the ban—imposed in August 2025—was lifted in the interest of the public, following the advice of Dr. Kikali G Sumi, veterinary assistant surgeon, Quarantine Check Post, Merapani.
Fazl Ali College, MCTE sign MoU
DIMAPUR — Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung, and Mokokchung College of Teacher Education (MCTE) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at Fazl Ali College on Wednesday. According to an update, the MoU was signed by Dr. I Wati Imchen, principal of Fazl Ali College, and Dr. T Alemla Longkumer, principal of MCTE. It aims to establish collaborative relations between the two institutions with a focus on implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 curriculum and other mutually beneficial programmes related to teaching, research, and sharing of resources. Both institutions also agreed to jointly organise seminars, workshops, and conferences on relevant academic themes. Departments under both colleges will collaborate to facilitate the exchange of faculty and students for joint teaching, research, and capacity-building activities. The MoU will remain valid as mutually agreed upon by both parties.

Ao Senden calls for enforcement of GST concession
DIMAPUR — The Ao Senden has written to the deputy commissioner (DC) of Mokokchung, seeking the proper and immediate implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) concession announced by the union government. In a letter, Ao Senden requested the DC to ensure that the GST concession is implemented promptly for the “ease of living” and to contribute towards building an “Aatmanirbhar Bharat”. The organisation further stated that it reserves the right to undertake necessary checks at any time to verify whether the concession is being implemented properly. It urged the district authority to take immediate steps so that the benefit announced by the prime minister is availed to the public.
