NLA library committee meet on July 3
DIMAPUR — Deputy Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), S Toiho Yeptho, who is also the Chairman of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Library Committee has convened an Introductory meeting of the library committee for the year 2026-2027 on July 3 at 11:30 am at the C Chongshen Committee Room, Assembly Secretariat, Kohima. According to a press release issued by the Assembly Secretariat, all the concerned members of the committee have been requested to attend the meeting.
Mokokchung to observe Polio Day
MOKOKCHUNG — The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Mokokchung has informed that the National Immunisation Day for children aged 0 to 5 years will be observed on June 28. In a public appeal, the CMO urged all parents, guardians, and caregivers to ensure that every eligible child receives two drops of the oral polio vaccine at the nearest Intensive Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI) booth set up across the district. The immunisation drive forms part of the government's ongoing efforts to maintain a polio-free status and safeguard children against the disease. Anti-drug run in Kohima on June 26
KOHIMA — Nagaland Police will organise a 5 km awareness run on the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26 under the slogan, “Say no to drugs, choose life.” The run will begin at 6 am from High School Junction, Kohima, and culminate at the Police Headquarters. The event aims to draw 500 to 700 participants. According to the organisers, top finishers will receive cash prizes. On-the-spot registration will be available.
Tseminyu DPDB meeting on June 29
DIMAPUR — District Planning Officer & member secretary DPDB, Tseminyu, Lolezo Lawrence Tsukru has informed all the members of the Tseminyu DPDB that the monthly meeting of the board will be held on June 29 at the deputy commissioner's conference hall. According to a DIPR report, all the DPDB members have been requested to note the timing and attend the meeting positively.
Man found dead in Wokha
WOKHA — A 30-year-old man, identified as Nzanthung Kikon, was found dead in a suspected case of suicide at a rented house in Tsumang A Colony, Wokha, on Thursday. According to Biren Lotha, PRO and additional SP, Wokha, police received a report of the incident at around 1:50 pm and immediately rushed to the scene to initiate the necessary legal procedures. Police stated that the deceased was found hanging inside the rented accommodation where he had been residing. No foul play was suspected in connection with the death, though the exact reason behind the incident remains unknown. It was further informed that the deceased was recently divorced and had no children. The family declined to conduct a post-mortem examination. Following completion of the required formalities, the body was handed over to family members for the last rites. (Our Correspondent)
