Rio to lead NPF Legislature Party
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) has notified that the Speaker has been informed of Neiphiu Rio's unanimous election as the Leader of the NPF Legislature Party in the 14th House of the NLA, effective October 18, as per Rule 3(4) of the Members of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (Disqualification on Ground of Defection) Rules, 2019. The NLA also notified that, under Paragraph 4(2) of the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution of India and the Members of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (Disqualification on Ground of Defection) Rules, 2019, the Speaker has declared the merger of 31 NDPP MLAs with the Naga Peoples Front (NPF), effective October 18, 2025.
AG office grievance redressal programme on October 28
DIMAPUR — The Office of Accountant General (A&E), Nagaland, has informed all the retired/serving state government officers/officials that the office will be conducting special grievance redressal programme on October 28 from 11 am to 5 pm in the office premises. In a press release, the office requested officers/officials/pensioners having any grievances in matters relating to pension, GPF or payslip, to attend the grievance redressal programme.
AHoDs & HoDs meeting on October 29
DIMAPUR — In supersession of the circular issued by the Home Department, Secretariat Administrative Branch ‘A’ earlier on October 10, the department has informed that the meeting of the administrative heads of department (AHoDs) and heads of departments (HoDs) will be held on October 29 at 2 pm at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat’s conference hall, Kohima, and not on October 24 as circulated earlier. According to a DIPR report, all AHoDs and HoDs have been requested to attend the meeting positively.
Yingli College hosts folk song competition
DIMAPUR — The Phom Language Promotion and Translation Cell, Yingli College, Longleng, organised a Phom folk song and recitation competition at Borgohain Hall, on the October 22. The event was conducted in both Phom and English, featuring discussions on Phom language and history, as well as cultural items like folk songs and recitations, a DIPR report stated. The initiative aims to promote Phom language and culture through creative means, with more events planned in the future. The event began with a welcome address by Dr. B Henshet Phom, Vice Principal of Yingli College, who introduced Bü Ashu. Tonghon, Assistant Professor of English, chaired the programme. Konjem, Assistant Professor of Economics, led the invocation, while Dennyi Lakpan and Ayung B Phom presented a special song. Konchem and Phenmei judged the folk competition.
