NSCN (Niki) clarifies on arms seizure
DIMAPUR — The NSCN/GPRN (Niki) has clarified that on the night of October 20, arms and ammunition of Naga regions — Tirap, Changlang and Longding (TCL) in Arunachal Pradesh — were being transported to GHQ Suruhuto designated camp. In a press release, the NSCN (Niki) informed these arms were intercepted and seized by Indian security forces at Chozuba, “due to miscommunication between different agencies.” “This movement and withdrawal of arms and ammunition was carried out in view of the deteriorating situation in the so called state of ‘Arunachal Pradesh’ so as to maintain peace in that region. Our civil and military cadres of all Naga-inhabited areas are bound to uphold the Indo-Naga political peace process, despite the cease-fire being in effect only in the state of Nagaland.” The NSCN (Niki) affirmed that it was committed to the peace process and called on all stakeholders to prioritise maintaining peace for a conducive environment for the Indo-Naga talks.
